was conducted to examine the sleep disturbance among high school students and investigate any
relationship between sleep hours and academic performance. The researcher aims to know if the
lack of sleep have a effect on their academic performance, the usage of cellphone is one of the
reason why the students have a lack of sleep. The researcher will gather information regarding on
how many hours do the students have sleep and what is the effect on it in their academic
performance ( grade).

( grade 11 & 12 ) enrolled in academic year 2023-2024. The respondents will be limited to five
(10) senior high school students (11-12) per section of HUMSS and ABM strand in the IMELDA R.
MARCOS HIGH SCHOOL.

Moreover, the participants will be selected using simple random sampling. This study will be

improve their grades.

Chapter 3

METHODOLOGY

This chapter reveals the methods of research to be employed by the researcher in conducting the
study Which includes the research design. Population of the study, research instrument, data
gathering procedure and the appropriate statistical treatment of data.

RESEARCH DESIGN

A quasi- experimental design is used to establish the cause and effect relationship of variables.
Although it resembles the experimental design, the quasi- experimental has lesser validity due to
absence of random selection and assessment of subjects. Here, the independent variable is
identified but not manipulated. The researcher does not modify pre- existing groups of subjects
the group exposed to treatment (experimental) is compared to the existing group unexposed to
treatment (control).

The researcher will aim to know the effect of sleeping hours with the grade of senior high school
students and compare it with the students who have enough hours of sleep and will know the
difference of them.

RESEARCH METHOD

The researcher used quasi-experimental method to investigate the effect of sleeping hours with
the grades of senior high school students. This type of method used to investigate the results of
the study.
The researcher chose this type of research to know the effects of sleep deprivation with the
academic performance of students in IMELDA R. MARCOS. The responses will go under
observation to know the effects with their grades.

SAMPLING TECHNIQUE

This study used simple random sampling as it's convenience because it is the easiest for the
researcher to access. This can be due to geographical proximity, availability at a given time or
willingness to participate since the researcher needs a large set of respondents to fully know the
effect of sleeping hours with the academic performance of senior high school students.

DATA GATHERING PROCEDURE

The researcher will use Interview questions to gather information about the effect of sleeping
hours with the grade of senior high school students.
