Although there is a lot of translation software available, learning a language could still be

advantageous.

To what extent do you agree or disagree?

In the modern world, there are tons of translating tools in order to help us communicate in different
languages effortlessly and we cannot deny it as one of the most crucial applications in the modern
era. However, some people, myself included believed that a person who learns foreign languages will
earn more benefit than using a translation tool.

Learning languages allows learners to have a high flexibility in different situations because when
learning a new language, leaner must learn the vocabulary, grammar, structure, and context in
specific settings. As a result, people learning languages can talk, listen, and write in that language
confidently without using any supportive software. For instance, when a person wants to travel
abroad for vacation or working purpose, he or she will not have to depend on google translate to
communicate with native speaker which is a big advantage to the one who is able to speak that
language easily. This is a testament to the benefits of acquiring second language.

Although these translating applications are becoming more and more “smarter”, there are still some
limitations among those technology tools. The most noticeable disadvantage of these software is the
lack of accuracy. Take google translate as an example, when one type a long and complicated text
then translate it to another language, the translated text will become out of context and have some
critical grammar errors. In some developing countries such as Vietnam, native people use some
unreliable platforms to translate languages and it leads to unnecessary misunderstandings.

In conclusion, I side with those who argue that despite the advantages of translating technology,
learning languages is still more beneficial because of its flexibility and high adaptability in various
circumstances.
