Influenza

(Flu)

What?
Influenza, commonly known as the flu, is a
contagious respiratory illness caused by influenza
viruses. These viruses can affect the nose, throat,
and sometimes the lungs, leading to various
symptoms.

Who?
Influenza, or the flu, can affect people of all ages, but
certain groups are more susceptible. Individuals with
weakened immune systems, young children, elderly
individuals, pregnant women, and those with chronic
medical conditions are at a higher risk of severe
complications from influenza.

How?
Influenza is mainly spread through respiratory
droplets produced when an infected person
coughs, sneezes, or talks. It can also be contracted
by touching a surface or object with the flu virus on
it and then touching the mouth, nose, or eyes.

Symptoms?
Fever and chills• Muscle or body aches•
Cough• Fatigue•
Sore throat• Headache•
Runny or stuffy nose• Vomiting and diarrhea•

Preventions?
•Vaccinations •Stay at home when sick
•Hand Hygiene •Avoid touching your face
•Respiratory Hygiene •Practice healthy habits
•Cleaning & Disinfecting
