1. The Bible, like Jonas story who was swallowed be a whale, the “American dream”, and Colombian
drug dealers or hit man.
2. No, cause I have always been a “good” person.
3. Yes, I used to be afraid of foreigners, and to be dammed for the eternity.
4. That a very small part of the story might be true; however, people tend to distort the truth. Yes, I
agree because before emitting any judgment it is important to know the two sides of a story. We
need to know important details as the positive or negative aspects this might have.
5. That I was “genius” as a kid, and for that reason, everything regarding studies were a “piece of
cake” to me. On the other hand, as a grown up people tend to believe I am hideous or obnoxious
because “I ask too much” or “question other people too much”, or just because I feel the necessity
to express what I think.
6. That Christians need to be perfect, that education quality in private institutions in Costa Rica is
low, gender role; for instances, males can´t play with dolls, and girls can´t with cars.
7. That people “learn” or get accustomed to see the person weak or bad. You will only look for the
bad things, the flaws, the weakness or failures that person might have.
8. People might feel ashamed or surprised. Generally, people stop looking just for the negative
aspects and start to notice the positive ones. We start to see another version, a better one, of the
person.
9. By looking for information from reliable sources. Having an open mind id crucial as the respect
and tolerance for others.
10. By teaching our students not to label people, and teaching them to be critical thinkers that know
that there is no such thing as the universal truth.
11. Yes, it is part of one of the main core of the Costa Rican education syllabus, the humanistic side,
to show empathy to others. Nevertheless, as teachers, we have to be careful and drop a line were
respect and confidence don’t trespass each other boundary or make it blurry.
