Document 5: The Evolution of Video Games

Video games have come a long way since their inception, evolving from simple pixelated games to
immersive virtual worlds. The first video game, "Tennis for Two," was created in 1958 by physicist
William Higinbotham and featured on an oscilloscope screen. However, it was the release of "Pong" by
Atari in 1972 that popularized video games and laid the foundation for the industry. Since then,
technological advancements have revolutionized gaming, introducing home consoles, handheld devices,
and powerful gaming PCs. The rise of the internet and online multiplayer games has transformed gaming
into a global phenomenon, connecting players from different corners of the world. Today, video games
encompass a wide range of genres, from action-packed shooters to immersive role-playing adventures,
and continue to push the boundaries of entertainment and technology.
