II. Rationale
The child with empty stomach cannot focus in his/her studies. Paying attention to his/her
food nourishment is essential. That is why the Department of Education (DepEd) launched a school-
based feeding program to answer the need of each child.
The child’s nourishment is the foremost aim of the school-based feeding program. The
nutritious meals that the school prepares and offers to the wasted and severely wasted pupils are
contributing to their good nutrition and good performance in school.
The school-feeding program also promotes good health. It is also helpful in the child’s
performance in the class. The healthy child performs well in the class whether in oral or written
performance. He or she does better in classroom interactions and activities.

School
This program is also instrumental in making the child active and alert. The nutritious foods
being served in the school-based feeding program makes the children move actively and
energetically.

The school-based reading program may boost the child’s academic achievement. The child
who eats well thinks well and does better in academics. The nutrients coming from healthy foods are
assisting in the child’s education.
One common problem in our community is food specially during the times of
disaster and calamities wherein prices of commodities are in surge. Almost every
Filipino are suffering from hunger and are starving to death, that affects our children
and their growth. The Department of Education is implementing feeding program in
the elementary level, but this was not sustained in high school. The data on
nutritional status reveal that malnutrition still exist in secondary level. Throughout the
years, DepEd aims to sustain the nutritional health of every student specially in
public schools.
Amidst the pandemic, Don Jose M. Ynares Sr. Memorial National High School
supports all the programs in line with the department positively challenging and
makes its mark in the improvement on the quality of students learning and developed
special concern program to at least reduce the cases. The school believes that
nutrition plays a significant role in bettering the health of students. School based
feeding program is one of the interventions that enhance students motivation and
capacity for learning, improving learning outcomes, reducing absenteeism and
ensuring that students are able to stay in school as enunciated in: ”Education for All”.

V. Report Writing
To make this project successful, the information and directions will be given
by the Coordinator in advance with made clear regards to arrangement and
distribution of the food package to our students.
The Principal Consultant will supervise and monitor to determine the problems
(if there are some ) provide corrective measures and protocols will also be
conducted to determine if the program goals and objectives are achieved.

Pursuant to this effort, the school’s Feeding Program through the Adopt-a-
School Program, Project AKAP and Parent Teacher Association seeks partnership
with the Local LGU, Department of Education and other relevant government and
private agencies to pursue intensified action to promote proper nutrition and balance
diet, hence this feeding project is conceptualized.
