specimen from patients must be
kept strictly confidential.
- The Health Insurance
Portability and Accountability
Act (H.I.P.P.A.) enacted on 1996
requires the privacy of patient’s
information, medical records,
including laboratory results. Any
information about the patient
must be kept in confidence.
3. Collaboration
- Any information gained
concerning the patient’s case is
the collaborative activity
between the laboratory and the
attending physician.
4. Research
- This requires the use of medical
technology knowledge and
procedures that may involved
patients or human being.
