STATEMENT

OF PURPOSE
UNIVERSITY COLLEGE BIRMINGHAM

As you are applying to study a course in the UK, we will need you to provide a statement of purpose as to why you want to study at University College
Birmingham.
We recommend 50 – 200 words per section.

1. Why are you applying for your chosen course?

There are two main reasons why I had chosen to apply in Bachelor in Event Management. First thing is that I
found that this course will help me to develop a career in something that I am passionate about. Secondly, this
course is designed to financial management, risk and crisis management which will gain in the depth
knowledge needed to build a comprehensive platform for our future career. Most importantly, the course event
management gives the chance to prove our practical skills by planning and managing our own ‘live’ event.

2. Why does the subject interest you?

Right from high school, I found myself curious enough to know more about the strategies of successful event
management. It amazes me how people unite and coordinate to organize one particular event
successfully. .This art of understanding the strategizing the different aspects of an event and simultaneously
arranging them has given me new insights that have inspired me to specialize in Event Management. On top
of that, the trips and visits throughout the course, talks from renowned industry figures and real-life focused
assignments have all been amazing.

3. Why do you think you’re suitable for the course?

I believe I am very suitable for Bachelor in Event Management because I have an academic
foundations needed to succeed in this course. More importantly, I have experienced of being
corporate Events Manager so I have ability to accept criticism and work well under pressure. I have
found my previous course is similar to these course which made me to choose these that’s why
these course is absolutely suitable for me.
4. Do your current or previous studies relate to the course that you have
chosen?

Since, I have studied Business Management in grade 11 and grade-12, pursuing Bachelor in event
management will be a straight forward for my academic progression. I would like to build a
foundation on what I have learnt during my High school. These course’s ideal study destination is
also match with my previous course.

5. Please provide any skills, achievements or other supporting information you


feel would be beneficial for us to be aware of.

After high school, I was really undecided what course to purse, so I took some years to decide on what I really
want to do in my life. During gaps, to keep myself productive, I worked as Senior Office Assistant in Oscar
Event and Entertainment in Nepal. While working there I learned how events are managed in a discipline way
and how we should take the responsibilities of the whole event. I think the knowledge can be very helpful
while I work as a professional Event Manager . All of these experiences have taught me to work in a team and
handle pressure at peak time such as end of fiscal year.

6. If you know what you would like to do after completing the course, explain
how you want to use the knowledge and experience that you gain.

After completing education at UCB, I want to return to Nepal to start my life as a professional Event
Manager.
