REACTION PAPER ON LEADERS ROLES IN RESOLVING COFLICT
*How do you manage conflict with your team?
I. CONFLICT WITH YOUR TEAM
- Team conflicts arise when there are disagreements over the goals, methods or needs of the team. Conflicts can also occur when there are differing personalities. At first, these conflicts may seem commonplace, but failing to resolve them could hurt productivity and overall morale.
II. REASONS OF THE CONFLICT
- Environment – Something in the environment leads to the conflict. Skills – People lack the appropriate skills for doing their work. Values – A clash of personal values leads to conflict. Identity – The participants' sense of identity puts them at odds with each other.
III. STRATEGIES TO SOLVE CONFLICT
- Encourage team members to listen to one another, respect each other's points of view, and not interrupt or make personal comments. During the conversation: Keep the tone of the conversation calm and non- threatening. Encourage active listening , so people understand where the other person is coming from.
IV. REFLECTION ON THE MANAGEMENT OF CONFLICT/
TRANSFORMATIONAL - Another important lesson that you can learn from your conflict management experiences is to understand different perspectives, or the views, opinions, or interests of others involved in a conflict.
