INTRODUCTION e Akon City is a planned community in the M'bour Department of Senegal by Senegalese singer and entrepreneur Akon. ¢ The project was first announced by Akon in 2018. Akon said in October 2022 that construction on the city's first phase would begin construction in 2023 and would open in 2026. e Akon said he was inspired by the movie Black Panther, and he refers to Akon City as a "real-life Wakanda" that uses the latest technologies of blockchain and cryptocurrency. e The developed economy aims to adapt future development. The current evolution required a flexible infrastructure to accommodate new real estate development. AKONCITY will play a vital role in the quest for solutions to these challenges. LOCATION: Akon City is located on a 2,000-acre site near the village of Mbodiene, about 100 kilometres south of Dakar, the capital of Senegal. The city will also have its own cryptocurrency, called Akoin. ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT: Akon City aims to promote economic development in the region by creating jobs and attracting investment.
