HOW TO WRITE A LITERATURE REVIEW CHAPTER (CHAPTER TWO)

1. Background:

• Explain the context of your project and the background information necessary for the
reader to understand your work such a short history of your project and main
terms/technology used

• Example: If a project was to develop a mobile application for tracking personal fitness
goals. You may start as… “In recent years, there has been a growing interest in health
and fitness apps due to the increasing awareness of healthy lifestyles."

• Identify the problem or challenge that your project seeks to address.

• Example: "One of the challenges faced by individuals trying to achieve their fitness
goals is the lack of a user-friendly and customizable fitness tracking app…….."

2. Weakness of the Existing system

• use this section to highlight the weaknesses of the existing system. Explain them one by
one in separate paragraphs

• Example: "Based on the analysis, it's evident that existing fitness tracking apps often
compromise user-friendliness for feature richness, leaving users overwhelmed and
discouraged."

3. Related Systems Overview:

• Provide a brief overview of similar projects or existing solutions in your field that was
developed to solve the same problem you have addressed.

• Example: "Several fitness tracking apps, such as Fitbit and MyFitnessPal, are available in
the market, offering features like step counting, calorie tracking, and social sharing."

• When discussing related systems or solutions, you can elaborate on their weaknesses or
areas where they fall short that is discuss the advantages and disadvantages of various
systems, technologies, or approaches that were used

• Example: "While app X offers comprehensive fitness tracking features, it lacks a user-
friendly interface. App Y, on the other hand, provides customization options but lacks
data visualization capabilities…… etc"

4. Expected Contributions

• Explain what your project aims to contribute or achieve after studying the existing
systems.

• Example: "This project is expected to provide individuals with a personalized and


intuitive tool for tracking their fitness progress and staying motivated to reach their
goals."

• Explain the advantages of the new system in separate paragraphs


HOW TO WRITE METHODOLOGY AND SYSTEM REQUIREMENT (CHAPTER THREE)

1. Methodology

a. Briefly describe the approach or methodology you plan to use in your project.

b. Example: "The development of the fitness tracking app will follow the Agile
methodology, with regular iterations and user feedback incorporated into the design…."

2. Approach

a. Describe the overall approach you took for the project based on the methodology you
have chosen. Explain what you will do in each step to complete your project

b. Example: “In this project a step-by-step approach in waterfall will be used to develop
the system. From planning, followed by design, implementation, and testing”…...

3. Data Collection (if applicable):

a. If your project involves data collection, briefly explain how you collected data, how
many participants etc………..

Example:” Data collection involved surveys and interviews with potential users to
understand their needs.”

4. Development Tools and Languages

a. Mention and explain the programming languages and software tools you will use for
system development and their functionality in separate paragraphs

b. Mention and explain also the hardware tools that you will need and their functionality in
your project (include some pictures) in separate paragraphs

THE FOLLOWING WILL NOT BE INCLUDED IN THE PROPOSAL BUT WILL BE INCLUDED IN PRESENTATION
AS SHOWN IN THE GUIDELINES.

1. Initial Project Design – based on the type of project that you are developing you need to show
the initial design as per the guidelines.
2. The supervisor will go through all your initial design before presentations and will sign the
logbooks to prove that the design was shown. (Should be done immediately after opening the
school)
3. Read the guidelines carefully to see what type of diagrams needs to be shown f or each project
4. NOTE: do not just download the diagrams, draw them according to what your specific objectives
since they will be assessed based on your objectives.
