In the 9th grade it was my first time to participate in TEDx and though I had the artistic

talents for the design team I applied for the operations team, specifically the NGOs. Flash
forward 2 years later, I decided to apply for the design team this time. Though I looked
forward to the community I still had uncertainty. Nonetheless, I learnt a lot. As TEDx
originally serves to raise awareness and spread knowledge, it really was enlightening to see
how all the work done in a time period of 9 months is summed up to one day. Moreover, all
the different aspects of illustrations, elements, and colours working together to portray the
theme of the year, all sum up to much more than what is scene on the day of event.

Digital media:
Because I frequently draw using a pencil/pen I was unfamiliar with using a digital device to
create designs. The only experiness I previously had was through the app Canva which had
pre-made illustrations, but that wasn’t what they wanted for the tedx team, they wanted
digital illustrators. That was a difficulty not only because I wasn't proficient in using digital
devices, but also because I didn’t have an Ipad/tablet, I only had my phone. Though with
time i figured out my way in the digital drawing with my phone, another problem was found,
which was the quality of the line. Amena, the vice president and a friend, brought it to my
attention how this was a problem, therefore, the advice she gave was instead of erasing,
using colours to clean up the line. Moreover, I also got the chance to work on my first
animation. Instead of resorting to difficult shapes, I choose to simplify it as much as possible
resorting to an animation
