SEMI-DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN ENGLISH

A. WARMER
Pre-Activity
Before the class starts, make sure the class is outside the classroom.
Tell them to stand up and go to the school plaza. Tell them that you are
going to bring them back to the class. Explain to them that you will
give instructions on how they return to their classroom.
Remind them not to shout or produce noises and push one another so
they can hear the instructions and not disturb other classes.
Instructions:
1. Since you are in the plaza, pick up the trashes you might see in front
of you.
2. Call a student and tell him/her to pick up the empty bottle under the
tree.
3. Tell the student to put the trashes they have collected inside the
trash can.
4. Tell the students to wash their hands at the sink near the canteen.
5. Walk straight along the corridor.
6. Turn left when they reach the library.
7. Continue instructing until they reach their classroom.
While walking back to the classroom, ask them questions such as “Do
we turn left or right at the Principal’s Office? And other questions
B. PRESENTATION OF THE LESSON
During Activity
1. Imperatives
Explain to the students what is imperative, also known as a plea or a
command. It provides someone instructions about what they should do.

For example, sit down. Stand up. Stop talking. Write supplementary examples on the
board to make students understand more about the examples.
Explain the structure of an imperative which is just a verb such as sit, stop, run, walk, etc.
Ask the students about verbs they know and add a piece of information about it.
Introduce another activity to the students.
Choose two students and ask them to go in front of the class and act it out. For example,
touch your shoulder, walk around the chair, and others. Then ask some students
to give sentences, and their classmates will act them out. Next, introduce to the class the
other use of prepositions, such as in giving commands or directions.
2. Prepositions Explain to them what preposition to use to demonstrate
therelationship between two words in a sentence, between a noun, verb oradjective, pronoun or
gerund. For example, walk into the classroom,and put the pen inside the drawer. Please write a
few examples on theboard and ask the students to copy them.Tell students prepositions
have no settled form; the most commonprepositions are one-word prepositions such as
on, before, and into.Moreover, there are prepositions of two- or three-word phrases such
asaccording to, along with, and despite.Explain that prepositions have literal meanings
or metaphoricalmeanings wherein the meanings can sort into categories:1. Place-under the
desk2. Time-on Thursday3. Purpose-done for school4. Possession-a product of mine5. Manner-
by bus6. Means-with a guitar7. Movement-towards the rear8. Accompaniment without a
toolGive the students list of prepositions with their meanings and howto use them in a
sentencePrepositions of Place:These prepositions tell where something is located concerning
something else.
Prepositions of Movement:These prepositions use to discuss the movement to or from a place.They are
often used in the imperative to give directions from one place to another.

D. FREE COMMUNICATION
Introduce them to the activity “Guide me To Your Home.”
Tell them to bring out one ¼ sheet of paper and number it from one to
five.
Tell the students to imagine they will visit five of their classmates on
the weekend, and to reach their classmate’s home; they should have
the direction to get there.
Ask them to stand up, mingle with their classmates, and then the
directions to their house. They have to write the directions in sentences
using imperatives and prepositions. For example, “Walk three blocks.
Go around the corner. It is the second building on the left.
After they finish the activity, collect their papers.
E. EVALUATION
Tell the students they will assess to check their understanding of the
lesson
Distribute the activity sheets to the students. Read the instruction.

Direction: Encircle the verb and box the preposition used in the
sentence
1. Walk three blocks. It is at 420 51st Avenue.
2. Go two blocks down Main Street. It is next to Starbucks.
3. Just go down Main Street.
4. Walk up 56th avenue. It is across from the mall.
5. Go up 21st Avenue for two blocks. It is between the mall
and café.
6. Walk along 1st Street.
7. Make a right on 30th avenue and go three blocks. It is
between the library and the mall.
8. Head up 35th avenue until you get to Starbucks.
9. Go straight up Main Street until you get to the laundry
10.Head down Main Street. You will see it on your left.
Collect their papers after they finish the activity.
