Series

● A series is a sum of a sequence.


● Thus, given a sequence {un}, the sum of the first 12 terms,
written as S12 is given by:

● S12 = u1 + u2 + u3 + … + u11 + u12

is an alternative, shorthand way, known as sigma

● There are two formulae that can be used to find the sum
of the first n terms of an arithmetic sequence, Sn,
depending on the information you are given about the
