To Whom It May Concern:

It is a pleasure to write a letter of recommendation for Alexa Garrett whom I have known for four months,
two of which she has spent in my 2nd and 3rd-grade pull-out replacement resource room language arts
classroom as my Special Education Student Intern. In all respects, Alexa is a strong professional who has
an exceptional knowledge base in the field of education, specifically special education.

Alexa came well-prepared for her student teaching experience. Her enthusiasm and dedication throughout
her time here is commendable. She has taken the initiative to spend her own time participating in
parent-teacher conferences, attending professional development, and researching best practices. This
includes presenting research-based writing strategies (SRSD) at professional development meetings to
teachers within the district.

Alexa has an excellent rapport with her students and their families. Her ability to connect with students
during whole group, small group instruction, and one-on-one conferring is exceptional. She is always
willing to come up with creative lessons that are engaging and effective. During her time in the
classroom, she implemented a unit of Reader’s and Writer’s Workshop with a focus on character
development within traditional literature. She also researched and observed the Orton Gillingham method
of teaching and implemented structured literacy lessons, developing lessons accessible to all students. She
completed this while managing individual behavior plans and incorporating social-emotional learning into
her teaching. Her hands-on lessons engaged the students and led them to new discoveries. Alexa
continues to work as a guest teacher in our district.

Alexa’s professional qualities are also strong. She is extremely organized, polite, enthusiastic,
professional, and always reliable. She is very bright and strives to improve her teaching skills at every
opportunity. Alexa accomplishes tasks with great initiative and with a positive attitude. She collaborates
very well as evidenced by her co-teaching with the special education teacher and support staff within her
classroom.

I, therefore, give Alexa Garrett my endorsement for a candidate seeking a teaching position in your
school. She is already an accomplished professional and will be an asset to any school district lucky
enough to hire her. I have witnessed her hard work and dedication and am confident she will exceed your
expectations as a teacher at your school. Should you require additional information, please do not hesitate
to contact me.

Sincerely,

Lauren Macinsky
