Determination of Quinine
Determination of Quinine
Determination of Quinine
Apparatus Required
1. Fluorimeter
2. Cuvettes
3. Volumetric flask
4. Beakers
5. Funnel
6. Tissue paper
Chemicals Preparation:
Procedure:
Prepare dilute solutions containing 0.0001mg/ml to 0.0007 mg/ml from the stock solution in a
50ml volumetric flask.
Measure the fluorescence intensity for all the solutions at 445 nm using highest concentrated
solution as standard for fluorimeter. Use LF2 or an equivalent primary filter (Max = 350 nm) and
gelatin as the secondary filter if using a simple fluorimeter. Plot the graph between fluorescence
Intensity Vs concentration.
Sample
Transfer the given sample solution in to a 50 ml standard flask and make up to the mark using
0.05 M sulphuric acid. Measure the fluorescence intensity of the solution then find out the
concentration of the sample using the calibration curve.
