School Budgetary Needs Assessment Survey

In addition to faculty and staff, additional stakeholder groups whose input is needed for a

comprehensive needs assessment include students, families, community members, and

community leaders. When building a budget and addressing the needs of a school, it is vitally

important to include the voice of those whom the school serves. According to the US Dept of

Education, a needs assessment should understand the concerns of its stakeholders prior to

collecting data (COMPREHENSIVE NEEDS ASSESSMENT Materials Adapted from " Planning

and Conducting Needs Assessments: A Practical Guide " (1995), 2001) and use that information

to build measurable need indicators.

Key data points that would need to be gathered should be aligned with the guiding

questions that have been determined by the team that will perform the survey. Those points

should include qualitative, quantitative, input, output, and demographic data (Cuiccio & Husby-

Slater, 2018). In addition to the various forms of data, some of which will be available already,

and some of which may be necessary to collect, it is important to identify where the greatest

needs are and what is required to support those areas. Aside from academics, an assessment

should also address systems and operations.

If the overall goal of a comprehensive needs assessment is to support the continuous

improvement of a school, then an administrator and their team need to address Standard 9 of the

Professional Standards for Educational Leaders, and “Seek, acquire, and manage fiscal, physical,

and other resources to support curriculum, instruction, and assessment; student learning

community; professional capacity and community; and family and community engagement.”:

(National Policy Board for Educational Administration, 2015, p. 17).
