Insulator Broken
Insulator Broken
Importance: High
Hi Pak Andhika,
Our met lab went through some of those insulators from Lion Air under RG 01877.
The large lumps appear to be chunks of broken retaining rings. We know Lion has had a number of those events.
We suspect the insulators with the lumps, previously had a retaining ring failure, and the some of the broken debris
works its way to the face.
Hopefully those cases are reducing now that the retaining ring is a consumable and replaced at each heat sink change.
- We recommend to inspect and clean the insulator thoroughly from debris.
- The insulator dishing inspection criteria is in CMM, do reject insulator that failed the inspection.
- Our engineering team would also like to know if Lion apply park brake hold while aircraft is at the gate once the
chocks are in.
