COURSE DESCRIPTION
The course deals with the basic concept of rhythm in relation to dance. The course includes lessons and
activities in creative rhythms, folk dances, and ballroom dances. This course aims to provide opportunities for
worthwhile experiences for self-expression to enhance the potentials and talents of students. This highlights
the application of the rhythmic bodily movements which have emphasis on fundamental rhythm, basic dance
steps and appreciation of the country’s rich cultural heritage which strengthens the awareness on dance
education as a global perspective in the 21st century. Students will be given varied rhythmic activities and
experiences to develop their skills and creativity in dancing.

By the end of the semester, students should be able to:
CO1: Discuss the relevance of dance and rhythmic activities in our daily living;
CO2: Enumerate and differentiate the classifications of Philippine folk dances;
CO3: Identify the different ballroom dances;
CO4: Determine the history of Jazz, Modern Dance and the people behind its development;
CO5: Emanate high sense of patriotism & nationalism through the study of different dances;
CO6: Establish rapport with others and with oneself at the onset of the lesson;
CO7: Demonstrate the different folk dances, ballroom dances, Jazz dances and modern dances;
CO8: Execute the different dances with precision and accuracy.

COURSE MATERIAL
This course uses blended based resources. The course and study guide will be either in printout or in pdf
format. We took advantage of Open Education Resources (OER) available.

CLASS POLICIES AND REQUIREMENTS:

1. This course will be mostly ONLINE. This can be done in Google Classroom Learning Management System.
You are required to enroll in Google Classroom for this course. Discussion forums, video conferencing
and chat can be done through FB groups, FB Messenger, Zoom and other social media platforms.
2. It is your responsibility as students to make sure that you faithfully observe and obey all the SCHEDULES
of the DISTRIBUTION of MODULES and its SUBMISSION DATES outlined in the modules.
3. As much as possible, please log in DAILY to our online learning management system – Google Classroom
for latest updates. IF schedule and connectivity will NOT permit to log in daily, make sure that you can log
once in a week. You MUST devote 2 hours a week for this course.
4. It is also your responsibility to download modules sent as PDF and to search for the recommended
resources, materials and additional references for this course.
5. All assignment and requirements should be submitted ON TIME. Late submissions will have corresponding
point deduction and may NOT be accepted per instructor’s discretion to give due credit to students who
submitted on time.
6. Individual work and requirements must be done INDIVIDUALLY unless explicitly mentioned to be by group
to avoid deliberate copying of answers.
7. For group projects (i.e. Performance Task) and other group requirements, it is your responsibility to get in
touch with your classmates and even your adviser.
8. You should respect the views of your classmates and instructors. Practice proper netiquette by avoiding
disrespectful comments in any social media platforms. If you have concerns, directly channel it to your
instructor.
9. Cheating is considered a mortal sin for this course. Any form of plagiarism will no be tolerated. All sources
for your work should be properly cited and acknowledge. If work is found to be plagiarized or copied, you
will be automatically give a grade of 5.0 for that particular work.
10. It is your responsibility as students to attend at least one special or limited face-to-face orientation session
within the sessions to be conducted in school upon approval of the higher authorities and follows health
and security protocol.
11. Course requirements, quizzes and assignments will be provided and announce in the study guides
provided.
