The Delta-Wye transformation or Wy- Delta is an extra technique
for transforming certain resistor combinations that cannot be handled
by the series and parallel equations

Example no. 1 Find the total resistance between terminal A and B.
Determine also the current drawn in the circuit if it is connected in 12
VDC.
Step1: Simplify the circuit using
your imagination
Step2: Convert the inside wye to
delta

Step1: Simplify the circuit
RAB= = 25(40)+40(50)+50(25)
=4250

RAB= 4250/40
RAB= 106.25
RBC= 4250/25
RBC=170
RCA=4250/50
RCA=85
Step1: Simplify the circuit

Seatwork:
Direction: In a short bond(8.5” x 11”) paper and handwritten with no erasures and
the final answer should be in three decimal places and encircle . The Seatwork
must have a front page similar to the problem set.
1. Determine the equivalent resistance between
terminals a and b.
2. Determine the equivalent resistance between
terminals d and f.
