• threaded rods Hilti HAS-U, Hilti HIT-V, Hilti meter rod AM 8.8 or
commercial threaded rods with washer and hexagon nut in the range
of M8 to M30,
may be utilized. The use of the injection system Hilti HIT-RE 500 V4 is
permitted under static, quasi-static and seismic loading in reinforced and
unreinforced, cracked and non-cracked normal weight concrete of strength
class of at least C20/25 and at most C50/60 according to [N2].
The required diameter of the drilled hole as well as the required drilled hole
depth and the minimum component thickness are given for each anchor
type in [P1]. The geometry of the bonded fasteners is shown in Figure 1.

The analyses are based on the following additional documents:

2 Steel failure
The temperature-dependent load bearing capacity of the steel elements is
limited by the load bearing capacity of the anchor cross-section and the
load bearing capacity of the connection between the anchor and the nut.
Steel failure under fire exposure consequently occurs either in the form of
a breakage of the anchor or in the form of shearing off of the nut.
The characteristic load bearing capacities NRk,s,f i (t) for the injection sys-
tem Hilti HIT-RE 500 V4 under fire loading according to the standard-
time-temperature-curve are summarized in Table 1 for galvanized carbon
steel and in Table 2 for stainless steel. The values given are to be limited
by the load bearing capacity in ambient climate according to the manu-
facturers’ specifications.

capacities NRk,s,f i (t) [kN] for steel failure of galvanized carbon steel of

3 Pull-out failure
If the tensile loading of a bonded fastener exceeds the load bearing capac-
ity of the interface between concrete, injection mortar and anchor, pull-out
failure occurs. In this context, a distinction must be made between un-
cracked and cracked concrete structures.
The characteristic load bearing capacities NRk,p,uncr,f i (t) for pull-out from
uncracked concrete under fire loading according to the standard-time-
temperature-curve are shown for galvanized carbon steel in Tables 3 to
5 and for stainless steel in Tables 6 to 8. Linear interpolation is permitted
between the individual values. Extrapolation is not permitted.
For the characteristic load bearing capacities NRk,p,cr,f i (t) for pull-out
from cracked concrete under fire loading according to the standard-time-
temperature-curve, the following applies in all cases

The load bearing capacities for steel failure specified in the framework
of the document at hand were determined for centric tensile loading in the
longitudinal direction of the anchor. According to [N3], Appendix D.4.3.1,
on the safe side a transfer to tensile loads without lever arm perpendicular
and diagonal to the anchor axis is possible.
