    VI Answer the following

    1. What is soil pollution?

    Ans: When garbage and chemicals are dumped in or on the soil the poisonous

    substances from it is absorbed by the plants. This leads to soil pollution.

    2. Name the 3R’s to control wastage and pollution.

    Ans: The three 3R’s are Reduce, Recycle and Reuse.

    3. What are the main causes of air pollution?

    Ans: The main causes of air pollution are as follows:

    a. Smoke from automobiles.

    b. Dumping garbage near the residential area.

    c. Emissions from factories containing smoke and toxic gases.

    d. Burning of plastic bags releases toxic gases.

    4. With the help of a well labelled diagram show the pollution of water. (Draw the

    diagram on page 125)
