At the end of a stairway across from the hotel, the white pebbles on the beach of Mariel's
Bella await you as beach facilities with lounge chairs and umbrellas and areas with free access to
the pristine clear sea that becomes deep just a few meters from the shore. The business is located
at Subic near the shore because of its calm and peaceful vibe of the place. This hotel has its own
restobar and consists of a swimming pool that may be convenient for the tourist.
This hotel provides services that exceeds the satisfaction of the guests. The hotel offers
room service and delicious delicacies for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The decor represents a
calm and aesthetically pleasing beach theme that creates a more relaxing environment for the
guests.
A hotel safety program is an initiative that aims to protect the health and security of
guests, staff and property in a hotel. There are different types of hotel safety programs, such as:
Safety and Security Programs, which generally start with the recognition of a need, that
is, a realization that a threat to people or property exists, and then develop and implement
appropriate responses or programs, such as training for threat prevention.
Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Practices, which aim to identify and document the
potential hazards in the hotel environment, communicate them to all stakeholders, implement
training procedures to mitigate the risks, and adapt an actionable plan for emergencies.
Examples of safety programs operated by Gastro beach resort hotel include blood borne
pathogens, electrical safety, hazard communication, injury prevention, machine guarding and
PPE.
A. Employee Training
Provide all employees with thorough training on fundamental food safety procedures,
such as proper food handling, hand washing, and personal hygiene.
Provide workers handling raw meat, fish, and other items with specific training.
B. HACCP Plan
Create and carry out a HACCP plan that specifies crucial control points throughout food
preparation in areas where risks are controllable.
Monitor and collect data at these designated control points on a regular basis to make
sure uniform safety protocols.
Identify potential biological, chemical, or physical hazards at each stage of the production
process.
Evaluate each hazard based on severity and likelihood during the Hazard Analysis stage.
Determine Critical Control Points (CCPs) where procedures can be applied to prevent,
eliminate, or reduce food safety hazards to an acceptable level.
Examples of CCPs include cooking, chilling, nitrite or cure addition, and metal detection.
Gastro Beach Hotel Restaurant seeks to prioritize food safety by adhering to these
principles at every phase of its activities, guaranteeing the greatest standards for staff members
and both clients.
Gastro Hotel management commits to providing a safe and healthy working environment
for all employees and guest.
Adequate training and supervision will be provided for all employees on health and
safety procedures.
All employees must adhere to safety guidelines and report any unsafe conditions or
incidents immediately.
2. Emergency Preparedness:
An emergency response plan will be developed and regularly reviewed to address
potential emergencies such as fire, natural disasters, and medical emergencies.
Emergency exits, fire extinguishers, and first aid kits will be located throughout the hotel
and be easily accessible.
Regular fire drills and evacuation drills will be conducted to ensure employees are
familiar with emergency procedures.
3. Fire Safety:
All areas of the hotel will be equipped with smoke detectors and fire alarms.
Fire containment measures such as fire doors and fire-resistant materials will be in place.
Fire extinguishers and fire hydrants will be appropriately located and regularly checked.
Employees will receive training on proper lifting and carrying techniques to prevent
strains and injuries.
Adequate equipment and tools will be provided to ease the physical load on employees.
5. Chemical Safety:
Hazardous substances, such as cleaning agents and chemicals, will be properly labeled,
stored, and used according to safety guidelines.
Employees will be trained on the correct handling, storage, and use of chemicals.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), such as gloves and goggles, will be provided and
used when necessary.
6. Electrical Safety:
Electrical outlets and wiring must be properly installed and not pose any electrical
hazards.
Employees will be trained on safe electrical practices, such as not overloading power
sockets and reporting defective electrical equipment.
7. Food Safety:
The hotel's food and beverage outlets will adhere to local food safety regulations and
maintain cleanliness and proper hygiene standards.
Employees handling food will receive training on food safety practices, including
personal hygiene, temperature control, and allergen management.
The hotel pool will be regularly inspected to ensure cleanliness and proper chemical
balance.
Lifeguards will be trained and stationed at all times the pool is open.
Safety signage and information regarding swimming pool rules and potential hazards will
be displayed.
Employees will be trained on infection control measures, including the proper handling
and disposal of biohazard waste.
10. Security:

Standard regularly to ensure ongoing compliance with current health and safety regulations and
best practices.”
Occupational Health and Safety Policy
A. Introduction
At Gastro Hotel, we are committed to ensuring the health and safety of our employees,
guests, and visitors. This Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) policy outlines our commitment
to preventing accidents, injuries, and work-related illnesses within our beach hotel premises.
This policy is applicable to all employees and contractors working at or for the hotel.
B. Responsibilities
a. It is the responsibility of the hotel management to ensure compliance with all relevant
OHS laws and regulations.
b. Management will provide the necessary resources, including training and supervision, to
create and maintain a safe working environment.
c. Managers are accountable for communicating, implementing, and enforcing the OHS
policy to all employees and contractors.
a. All employees and contractors are responsible for following safety procedures, using
provided protective equipment, and reporting any potential hazards or accidents to their
supervisors.
b. Employees should actively participate in safety training and adhere to safe work
practices.
a. Through regular risk assessments, potential hazards will be identified, evaluated, and
controlled to minimize the risk of accidents or injuries in the workplace.
b. Specific hazards associated with our beach hotel may include slips, trips, and falls,
electrocution risks, swimming and water-related hazards, sun exposure, heat stress, and
improper handling of chemicals.
a. All employees and contractors will receive appropriate training on OHS hazards, risks,
and preventive measures.
b. Training programs will be conducted regularly, and refresher courses will be provided to
ensure continued awareness and compliance.
a. All accidents, near-misses, and work-related illnesses must be promptly reported to the
immediate supervisor or designated safety officer.
b. A thorough investigation will be conducted for every reported incident to determine the
root cause and implement corrective actions to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
F. Emergency Preparedness
a. Gastro Hotel will establish and maintain emergency response plans and procedures,
including evacuation plans, fire safety, first-aid procedures, severe weather protocols, and
communication methods.
b. Regular drills, training, and proper signage will ensure that all employees are aware of
emergency procedures and can respond effectively.
I. Continuous Improvement
a. We are committed to continuously reviewing and improving our OHS policies and
procedures.
c. Senior management will assess the effectiveness of the OHS policy annually, revise as
necessary, and communicate any changes to the entire workforce.

Hotel’s Potential Hazard:
Guest rooms Slippery surfaces: Wet floors, polished surfaces, or loose rugs can
cause slips and falls.
Restaurants & Slippery floors: Spilled liquids or food debris can make floors
Kitchen slippery and cause accidents.
Slippery pool decks: Wet surfaces around the pool can cause slips
and falls.
Chemical hazards: Improperly balanced or excessive use of pool
chemicals can cause skin or eye irritation.
1. Well-Lit Spaces: Ensure that all areas of the hotel, including hallways,
staircases, parking lots, and outdoor spaces, are well-lit to
enhance visibility and deter potential criminal activities.
2. Secure Locks on Doors Regularly inspect and maintain locks on doors, windows,
and Windows: and other access points to ensure they are functioning
properly.
3. Fire Exits and Clearly mark and maintain fire exits throughout the hotel,
Emergency Instructions: ensuring they are easily accessible and free from any
obstructions.
Ensure that all employees are trained in first aid and CPR to
provide immediate assistance in case of medical
emergencies.
6. Guest Safety Education: Provide guests with safety information upon check-in,
including emergency contact numbers, hotel policies, and
safety guidelines.

Emergency Protocols
Fire
In the Event of a Fire:
Use CARE:
You have a fully charged and proper type unit for the fire you are fighting
The fire is contained, and you have reported the fire by calling 911 or activation of a
Fire Alarm Pull Station
If you can’t control the fire within 30 seconds, abandon your efforts, close the door(s)
and evacuate immediately.
Do not ignore an alarm signal, even if you have reason to believe it may be false.
Evacuation
Building Evacuation
If an evacuation order is issued for your building, or if it were necessary to evacuate due to an
emergency, fully cooperate with emergency personnel and:
If you are the last one to exit your room, close and lock doors
Assist people with special needs emergency exit besides elevator (Chelsea Ibanez)
Evacuation Chairs are serviced biannually, every 6 months.
To operate
1. At the fire exit landing, set EVAC+CHAIR 300H upright and seat the
passenger evacuee in the chair
2. Pull back on the upper extension handle and balance the passenger’s weight
over the two main wheels
3. Align EVAC+CHAIR 300H squarely with the first flight of stairs, side nearest
the handrail, and roll forward as EVAC+CHAIR 300H starts descending the
stairs, side grip to the top of handle
4. Hold onto EVAC+CHAIR 300H at all times and gauge your speed of descent
to assure firm footing
5. Press downward on extension handle for smoothest ride
6. When the wheels first touch the next landing, hold EVAC+CHAIR 300H in
balance and swivel to face the next flight of stairs. Repeat step #3
7. Continue this procedure until reaching a safe lower or ground level; assist
passenger out of EVAC+CHAIR 300H
If there is imminent danger and evacuation cannot be delayed, the person with a
disability should be carried or helped from the building in the best and fastest manner
(the person with the disability is the best authority as to how to be moved out of the
building)
If you are unable to evacuate, call Campus Police at 915-747-5611 and report your
location
Injured persons should be evacuated to Gastro Hotel Parking Lot to be treated, as this
is where the First Responders will arrive.
As you make your way out, encourage those you encounter to exit as well
Campus Evacuation
The procedure for a campus-wide evacuation will vary, depending on the nature of the
incident. In cases when a decision has been made to evacuate, the campus will likely be
evacuated in stages, beginning with the areas that are in the immediate vicinity of the incident.
Other areas may then be evacuated, depending on the nature of the incident.
On occasion, evacuation may include utilizing buses for the event, where:
Large scale bus evacuations will follow the Incident Commander’s directions for
establishing transportation and evacuation routes. (In conjunction with UTEP Police
Department, Parking and Transportation, and Environmental Health and Safety).
Evacuation is for an extended period, 1 to 4 hours, and evacuees need protections from
the environment. (Rain, extreme heat, or cold weather)
If evacuated by bus, follow the instructions of the first responders and the vehicle
operator.
Medical Emergency
If someone is injured or becomes ill:
Stay Calm
Dial 911 and explain the type of emergency, the location, condition, and number of
victims
Let the dispatcher know of any safety hazards - chemical spill, fire, fumes, etc.
Bomb Threat
If you receive a bomb threat, remain calm and:
Write down the number from where the call is coming (“Bomb Aid” checklist)
Listen to the voice to determine the sex, age, accents, lisps, tone, etc.
Try to signal a for someone else to also listen on the call, if possible
Do not hang up and stay on the line as long as possible; wait for the caller to hang up
Active shooter or hostile intruder incidents often begin and conclude quickly, and the
incident may be at any location within the university. This leaves faculty, staff, and UTEP police
officers no time to coordinate response procedures with outside law enforcement and students.
The response to a specific incident will depend on the circumstances unique to that incident.
However, there are general procedures that apply to all active assailant incidents.
RUN/AVOID if possible
Pay attention to your surroundings.
Have an exit plan.
Move away from the source of the threat as quickly as possible.
The more distance and barriers between you and the threat, the better.
Leave your belongings behind. Always keep your hands empty and visible.
HIDE/DENY if necessary
Keep distance between you and the source.
Go to the nearest room or office and lock the door(s). If the door does not lock, wedge it
shut or use heavy furniture to barricade it.
Close blinds, turn off lights and cover windows.
Remain out of sight and quiet by hiding behind large objects and silencing your phone.
These may include electrical outages, plumbing failure/flooding, gas leaks, steam line
breaks, ventilation problems, elevator failures, etc. UTEP’s Facilities Services has procedures
and personnel to deal with utility failures. For your personal safety, in the event of a utility
failure:
Remain calm
Unplug all electrical equipment (including computers) and turn off light switches
Use a flashlight: Do not light candles or use other kinds of flames for lighting
Laboratory personnel:
- Secure all experiments, unplug electrical equipment, and shut off research gases
prior to evacuating
- Close all fume hoods and chemical containers
Floods
Minor or area flooding on campus could occur as a result of a water main break, loss of
power to sump pumps, or major multiple rainstorms. Campus Police monitors the National
Weather Service and other emergency advisory systems to stay abreast of weather and alert
related conditions and will provide instructions should they be necessary. For imminent or actual
flooding, and only if you can safely do so:
If present in your area, report all hazardous materials (chemical, biological, and/or
radioactive) to Campus Police at 915-747-5611 or to Environmental Health and
Safety at 915-747-7124
Wait for further instructions on immediate action from Safety and Security
If the building must be evacuated, follow the instructions on Building Evacuation
Do not return to your building if you have been evacuated by flooding until you have
been instructed to do so by Campus Police
If you are assisting with flood cleanup, report immediately to Environmental Health
and Safety any oil, chemical, or radioactive materials suspected of mixing with flood
waters
DO NOT put the package or object in water or an enclosed space, such as a drawer or
box.

Misspelled words.
Excessive weight.
No return address.
