 If a noun ends with s, ch, sh, and x add es


class classes
church churches
dish dishes
box boxes

 If a noun ends in y proceded by a consoante, we remove the y and add ies


country contries

 If a noun ends in y preceded by a vowel, we only add s.


key keys

 If a noun ends in f or fe, we remove the f and add ves


knife knives
leaf leaves

 Some nouns that end in o add es:


potato potatoes

 Some nouns that don’t have rules, they just change their forms:
man men
woman women
child children
foot feet
tooth teeth
mouse mice

 Sometimes we use plural noun for one thing that has two parts:
trousers / jeans / tights / pants / shorts (two legs)
pyjamas (top and bottom)
glasses
binoculars
scissors
