KONICA MINOLTA MSI Package

Product Description
This is the Final Release of the "KONICA MINOLTA MSI Package”. This Software allows installation
into the Windows Driver Store to allow easier deployment into corporate environments, for example
using Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM).

This document only describes MSI package itself, all other Customization points for the driver itself
should be fully described in a main Customization Sheet provided by Customer.

Process
MSI Package will use Microsoft Installer to copy all driver files, Setup Information File (.INF) and
Catalog File (.CAT) into C:\Program Files, then invoke Windows Driver Install Frameworks for
Applications (DIFxApp) to add the driver package to Windows Driver Store.

Supported Printers
- Depending on the request from Customer (See main Customization sheet from Customer)

Supported Printer languages

- Depending on the request from Customer (See main Customization sheet from Customer), but
basically the following is possible:
 PCL6
 PS
 XPS
 FAX
 PCL5

Supported Operating Systems

- Windows Vista/7/2008S/2008SR2/8/8.1/10/2012S/2012SR2/2016S 32 bits & 64 bits

Supported Languages
The MSI package will support up to 22 European Languages available for any given product:
- English (EN), French (FR), German (DE), Italian (IT), Spanish (ES)
- Portuguese (PT), Dutch (NL), Danish (DA), Finnish (FI), Norwegian (NO), Swedish (SV)
- Czech (CS), Hungarian (HU), Polish (PL), Romanian (RO), Slovenian (SL), Slovakian (SK),
Russian (RU)
- Greek (EL), Turkish (TR), Catalan (CA), Basque (EU)
- Muli-Lingual (MU)
Different language configuration might be generated on request, however this would require
additional Engineering and certification costs, since it differs from our standard EURO22 already
certified.

Co-existence with other drivers
- Depending on the request from Customer (See main Customization sheet from Customer), the
MSI package can support renamed driver sets (that will co-exist with standard driver), or standard
driver set (that will overwrite standard driver)

Deliverables, Filenames and File size

One separate MSI package will be provided for each model (Model), Emulation (PDL), Platform
(Platform) and Language (Language: Long name, Lang: 2 letters), with the following filenames:
- Model_PDL_Platform_driver_x.x.x.x.Lang.msi
For example, in case of bizhub C364e driver version 3.1.1.SSD_01 in PCL and PS emulations:
- bizhub_c364e_PCL6_x86_driver_3.1.1.SSD_01.MU.msi
- bizhub_c364e_PCL6_x64_driver_3.1.1.SSD_01.MU.msi
- bizhub_c364e_PS_x86_driver_3.1.1.SSD_01.MU.msi
- bizhub_c364e_PS_x64_driver_3.1.1.SSD_01.MU.msi
For example, in case of UPD driver version 2.50.0.0 in PCL6, PCL5 and PS emulations:
- Universal_PCL6_x86_driver.msi
- Universal_PCL6_x64_driver.msi
- Universal_PCL5_x86_driver.msi
- Universal_PCL5_x64_driver.msi
- Universal_PS_x86_driver.msi
- Universal_PS_x64_driver.msi
Each package will be around 40MB filesize.

Internal Project settings

Filenames: Project: Model_PDL_Platform_driver_x.x.x.x.Lang.aip
MSI: Model_PDL_Platform_driver_x.x.x.x.Lang.msi (as above)
Product Details: Product Name: Model PDL Platform Language driver
Version: Same as described in INF
Company Name: KONICA MINOLTA
Add/Remove Program (Control Panel): Register product with Windows Installer
Installation Options: Package Type: 32-bit package or 64-bit package
Installation Type: Per-machine-only (Fails if user is not administrator)
Reboot Behaviour: Prompt for Reboot when required
Media: Package Type: Single MSI
Archive: Archive installation files into CAB files
Compress CAB file for smaller size
One CAB archive contains all the installation files
Include CAB file into the MSI database
Other parameters: As default

Certification, PackageAware and Digital Signature

For automated deployment, it is understood that MSI package can only include:
- PackageAware drivers
- WHQL/WHCK certified drivers
In addition, MSI package is digitally signed to avoid any Windows warning about “Unidentified Program”
and “Unidentified Publisher”:

User Interface during Installation
Silent installation can be invoked with “Model_PDL_Platform_driver_x.x.x.x.MU.msi” /qn, otherwise
following User Interface and steps will be shown:

Installation path can be chosen at this step, and by default setup to:
- C:\Program Files\KONICA MINOLTA\Model PDL Platform Multi-Lingual driver\
In example, in case of bizhub C364e PCL6 driver x86:
- C:\Program Files\KONICA MINOLTA\bizhub C364e PCL6 x86 Multi-Lingual driver\

Elevation will happen at this step, since required by Windows to allow adding packages into the Driver
Store.

Installation Result
Upon installation, Driver files are now available in Windows Driver Store:
