Dear Coursera’s Financial Aid Team,

My name is Tung Chan An. I am writing to utilize the Financial Aid for the HSK1 course at
Peking University.

I was born in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. As a Taiwanese-Vietnamese, Chinese is not a big
matter since I have already spoken Chinese fluently for years. This is due to my parent’s plan
that they sent me to China to stay with my grandparents. In addition, I consider myself an
adaptable and the ability to internalize vocabularies quickly person.

Days in China taught me a lot, I figured out more about their lifestyle and their people.
Besides, I found out more about their culture such as dining etiquette and tea ceremony,
which brought me full of interest. Hence, I have an avid interest in learning their language.

Regarding to my academic performance, I’m currently studying at a top 10 high school in Ho

Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Throughout the progress of learning language for years, I assumed
myself a potential learner as I have a great memory of memorizing vocabularies in a brief.

As I mentioned, I am a Taiwanese-Vietnamese living in Ho Chi Minh City and I would love to

return to my hometown one day. Therefore, I will need to be able to read and write for
work or study and the course for HSK1 is going to help me in learning to read and write
progress. In addition, having the ability to read Chinese will eradicate the difficulties I may
have. I have an immense passion for sneakers, my dream is to be a sneaker entrepreneur. In
