Basic Body Butter Formula

Butters 40% - 50% combination of oils and butters

(This does not include oils. Oils are listed

below)

Carrier Oils 40%-50% Natural Oil/Carrier Oil

Fragrance .5% - 1% fragrance

Preservative .1% -.5% preservative or Antioxidant

This is a very basic body butter formula that you can use to start formulating your own recipes. This is
simply a basic formula designed to use as a reference when making your own formulas. You should feel
free to play with these percentages and experiment when creating your own masterpiece creations.
Don’t worry too much about making mistakes or formulas that don’t work out perfectly. Keep
experimenting and you will get there!

Keep in mind when creating a body butter that in general these are the richest and thickest formulations
and in general take much longer to absorb into the skin than lotion or creams. Body butters do not
contain water generally and as such do not require an antimicrobial preservative. You can use a natural
antioxidant such as T-50 Vitamin E or Rosemary Oil Extract in formulas that have no water content
instead.
