NOTES/COMMENTS:
Items noted below were reviewed for the above mentioned below grade stairs:
- Forms were in place for single pour concrete for retaining walls, footings and steps
- Doorway opening was made. Contractor to remove the concrete piece on top of the door way and provide a header as
per the drawings.
- Vertical & Horizontal Insulation was installed for retaining walls.
- Vertical & Horizontal reinforcing steel was installed
- Insulation was in place around the forms for retaining walls, underneath stairs and landing
- Due to disturbed soil due to excavation. Area was fully excavated and footings for retaining wall and first step of the
stairs were rested on undisturbed soil (to match with existing house footings)
In my opinion, the site is properly prepared for the concrete pour in accordance with the requirements of Ontario Building Code
and in conformance with permit drawings.
Noble Elite Solutions Ltd, did not perform any other inspections.

NOTES/COMMENTS:
At the request of the client, Noble Elite Solutions Ltd, was asked to comment on footings for the proposed extension for subject
property.
As per the drawings, it was verified that the footings on the site have a width of 20 inches or greater. Due to an error by the
contractor, the thickness of the footings varied, with some areas having an excess of 24 inches instead of the intended 6 inches.
The trench was excavated, removing the undisturbed soil, and the footings were then poured on top of the undisturbed soil as
per OBC 9.15.3.2. Retaining wall not formed at time of inspection.
In my opinion, the footings are acceptable and are in accordance with the requirements of Ontario Building Code.
There were concrete pieces from the existing foundation wall (15 MPa) that were left at the rear side of the footings where the
footings were 24 inches deep. The concrete cover on top of these pieces is 18 inches and will be acceptable as the thickness
required for the footings is 6 inches. (Aug 4/23)
