COURSE TITLE: MANAGEMENT SCIENCE
COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course covers many approaches to solving business problems from managerial point of view. Various optimization techniques are surveyed
Derived from CMO No. 75 s. 2017 with an emphasis on the why and how these types of models as opposed to a detailed theoretical approach. This course also provides students
with an introduction to an area of management that is sometimes called quantitative methods or operations of research.
Management Science approaches in organization, including modelling and rational approaches to decision – making process. Emphasizes analysis and
communication, using real world applications and cases. The objective of this course is top have students develop an appreciation of the managerial
science approach to problem formulation and solution that is now so important in today’s business and industrial sectors. The course focuses on
quantitative approach to decision making and introduces a variety of managerial science models, methods and procedures. The major areas of study are
linear and integer programming and its extensions, simulation modelling, decision analysis as applied to tactical and strategic business decisions, and
forecasting.
