My Field Study Experiences ( FS1 & FS 2 )

The focus of Field Study 1 is observation of the learners, school structure and the

community. Since this is the first time the student teachers have been exposed to the school

environment, they are expected to take note of the school and classroom facilities, and the

organizational set-up of the school. The PSTs shall observe the behavior of the learners in

the actual learning environment. Based on their observations of learners, PST shall develop

their understanding on feasible approaches to facilitate learning considering the various

phases of growth and development (FS1, intended outcome).

March 6-March 31 2022, 2nd Semester of Academic Year 2022-2023, I was a Third-Year

student when I experienced and witnessed the Teaching-Learning in Actual School

Environment. There are lot of learnings and involvements that I come across. Those are the

following:

The University of Perpetual Help System Isabela campus – Senior High School

Department also have a great contribution to my Field Study 1. Sir. Jemer Andres is our

cooperating teacher who guided me to experience the reality of teaching. From this, I

learned how to create Lesson Plan, create learning Modules and prepare a Instructional

Materials. Moreover, I also observed the Class discussion of Sir. Jemer in General English

from different sections, and I found that students are really different, they have different

mindset, different ability, and including different behavior. Those differences are great

factor to understand them more, to still believe to their capability.

University of Perpetual Help System Laguna

Minante Uno, Cauayan City, Isabela

Field Study 1 brought me to a situation which I spent a lot of effort and sweat, but it became

worth it because I learned a lot through experiences and observations. I glorify the Lord for

the safety and guidance He gave to me.

Field Study 2 captures major engaging participation activities that will process to teaching

assistantship and guided mentoring. These field experiences can be used to scaffold the rich

experiences of teaching internship. Using the PPST as guidepost in developing the content,

pedagogy and implementation scheme of Field Study 2.

Field Study 2 provides the necessary opportunities and quality strategies to support and

sustain student learning. It will open multiple pathways for student teachers to experience

and participate in class discussion by assisting their Cooperating Teacher.

September 18 -29 2023, 1st Semester of Academic Year 2023-2024, I was a Fourth-Year

student when I experienced the Participation and Teaching Assistantship. There are lot of

learnings and involvements that I come across. Those are the following:

The University of Perpetual Help System Isabela campus – Senior High School

Department is the partnered school for my Field Study 2. Sir. Jemer Andre is my

cooperating teacher who guided me in the intended outcome of FS2.

I learned how to prepare and search Instructional Materials in English especially in

Literatures. I also experience assisting my Cooperating teacher in Checking the Assignment

Introduction

Field Study is a book required to Education students as part of their degree requirements.

This service is provided by the University's institution (UPHSIC). A professional education

subject is linked to the Field Study. It is the responsibility of Tertiary Education to match an

appropriate such as Child and Adolescent Development, Teaching Principles, or Learning

Facilitation.

Field Study focuses on observing students, school structures, and the community. It will also

introduce student observers to the behavior of learners at various stages of growth. It

provides them with chances and career prospects as they see the school structure, classroom,

facilities, teachers, and students. This observation course gives them opportunities to

improve their skills as their exchange ideas with the other FS students, with the cooperating

teacher, with the students and others. This observation includes the way teacher interact with

each other and the other stakeholders.

Beliefs on teaching and learning ( pre and Post )( FS 1 & FS 2 )

Pre (Field Study 1)

Before FS1, I am really wondering that it is only about going to school and will seat on the

back of the classroom and observe everyone including the teacher (strategy, posture,

uniform, instructional materials), students (uniforms, recitation, behavior, academic

performances), classroom (cleanliness, availability of technology and facilities).

Post (Field Study 1)

After FS1, it shocked me more than I expect. “Expectation and Reality are really different”

and that is what I discover during my time as student teacher. There are moments that I am

very much amazed with how passionate the teacher in embedding knowledge and even

character. I also saw the challenges in teaching-learning process and consider all of those

things in my teaching days soon.

Pre (Field Study 2)

Before FS2, I already predicted that I am going to prepare Lesson Plan, Create Modules,

compute grades, observe class discussion, create Test examination and Demonstration

teaching.

Isabela Campus
Minante Uno, Cauayan City, Isabela

Post (Field Study 2)

After FS2, I’m now ready for Teaching Internship. I already reached the highest peak of

FS2 where I already seen the challenges in teaching, the interventions to resolve problems in

schools, the supervision for instructional routines, group activities and Co-Curricular

Activities, Check the Student’s output and performances, Record the student’s score, create a

bulletin board and learning stations, conduct action research and provide innovation for

effective learning

First Week (In Campus)

Name of CT: Practice Teacher

Date: March 6-15, 2023 Time of Observation: 11:30-12:30

Subject: Reading and Writing Grade Level &Section: HUMSS 12,

ABM 11 and TVL 11

Observation Report:

The first day we had an observation March 6, 2023 at University of Perpetual Help

System Senior Highschool Department, Me and Kathrina is a former student of UPHS

Senior Highschool that’s why some instructors are very familiar on us. I Just want to thank

God Because I don’t have to adjust and experience struggles with the environment. Our

CT(Critic Teacher) Sir. Jemer Andres instructed me and Kathrina to collect each evaluation

scores of students on their designated groups because they did have an activity, so sir Jemer

instructed us to collect their scores and submit it to him in the evening. At first we are

shocked because we do not know that in the first day of our observation, our CT will going

to give us a paper works but, we accepted it for that the skills we have can be practiced.

March 14, was the second day of our observation and it was a very nice discussion,

we observed the section of HUMSS 12. Their topic was all about the Democracy, students

are quietly listening, they are taking down notes about their lesson. I observed also the way
University of Perpetual Help System Laguna

Minante Uno, Cauayan City, Isabela

how Sir Jemer teaches his students. Sir Jemer’s voice was so loud and clear, he speaks

English frequently until the end of the discussion, he also want to make sure that he’ll

discuss his lesson properly to his students.

Our Third day of observation march 15 at the section of ABM 11 and TVL 11 went

well, Sir. Jemer greet them a Good morning and didn’t start the discussion without a prayer,

both sections have discussed the topic Reading and Writing a Resume he also informed his

students that their first performance task was to do a Resume, so Sir jemer discussed the

types of Resume these are Chronological, Functional, combination and targeted Resume.

Students got very excited at the topic. There are only ten students in TVL two girls and eight

boys and some of the students in ABM are having their research defense while we are

observing their class.

Reflection:

If I ever become a professional teacher, I plan to start each class with a prayer, a

smile, and friendly greetings. I will always refer back to our previous discussion in order for

them to participate in my class. As a teacher, I will instill more knowledge in them, which

they will be able to apply in their daily lives. When I teach, I always make my students feel

at ease, and I make sure that I am well prepared and knowledgeable about the topic that I am

going to share with them in order to effectively impart knowledge to my students.

Name of CT: Practice Teacher

Date: March 21-24, 2023 Time of Observation: 7:30-8:30

Subject: Reading and Writing Grade Level &Section: HUMSS 12,

ABM 11 and TVL 11

Observation Report:

In March 21, 2023, our observation went well, Sir Jemer suggest to his students to

make a circle because he doesn’t have a HDMI, that is why He wants all the students to

approach him to see the power point presentation on his laptop.

His topic was about Planetary Network, Climate Change, before he star his class he

told to them that their performance task on their subject was to create a video presentation

about climate change the grouped assigned on them was their group last time in their SWOT

project. Sir jemer gives time to grade 12 HUMSS students to review their lessons and

afterwards they will be having a recitation while the discussion is going on, I observe that

the students are actively participating at the lessons.

In March 22, 2023 both TVL 11 and ABM 11 has a same topic, they just did

continue their last disussio its all about false dilemma, sir jemer didn’t used the Tv for his

presentation of the topic because the connector HDMI was loose.

University of Perpetual Help System Laguna
Isabela Campus
Minante Uno, Cauayan City, Isabela

TVL strand there are only 3 students who attended the class, because some of their

classmates are having their Immersion, even though they were few, at least they understood

the discussion and were able to give their own ideas about the topic.

In March 24, since the class of sir jemer is online, he instructed us to monitor the ABM,

TVL HE, and TVL ICT students while taking their quiz and record who are the present and

absents at the gmeet, student needs to open their cameras while taking the quiz, TVL HE

students failed to attempt the quiz because all of them are classroom officer and

coincidentally they have a seminar at that time. I realized that there’s really a difference

between a face-to-face class and an online class because communication is often limited

online. Some students feel lazy to attend or join the classes, that’s why no matter what

choices are given to them, most students still prefer face-to-face classes.

Reflection:

I have learned important lessons during my observation which I can use someday

when I become teacher. I will always start the day with a prayer and with a smile and warm

greetings. I will always make my students feel comfortable every time that I teach, use my

teaching strategies so that they can express their own opinion without judgement. and I

would make sure that I’m well prepared and knowledgeable on the topic that I’m going to

share to them in order for me to impart knowledge effectively to the students.

Observation Report:

On March 28, 2013 at 1:00 in the afternoon, before Sir Jemer started the class, they

began with a prayer to ensure a smooth flow of discussion. Afterwards, Sir Jemer reminded

the students that they needed to finish their two remaining topics because there would be a

holiday on March 30 for the entire city of Cauayan. They started their discussion, and their

topic was about the Technological Network. Sir Jemer reminded the students to take note of

their lesson.

On March 29, I observed that Sir Jemer was strict in his classroom, especially during

ongoing discussions. After the discussion, one of the ABM students did a raffle for their

upcoming interview. The TVL students went to the gym to support their peers as props for

their street dance performance, which was approaching soon.

On March 31, Sir Jemer asked us to gather all the names and numbers that the HUMSS

students had drawn, so that we could record everything and send the file to Sir Jemer via

Gmail.

Date: MAY 02, 2023 Time of Observation: 8:00-9:00

Subject: P.E Grade Level &Section: GRADE 7

Observation Report:

On the first day of class in Cauayan City National Highschool-Research Annex, I

observed the teaching style of a teachers and classroom environment. The class consisted of

56 students.

The classroom was well-organized and inviting, with colorful displays of educational

material and students' work on the walls. The desks were arranged in a semi-circle, allowing

for better student-teacher interaction. The room was adequately lit and ventilated.

My Critic Teacher Ma’am Marilyn introduce me at her class and then the Practice teacher

and the students welcomed me, and after that the Practice teacher began the class with a brief

introduction, setting the tone for the day and outlining the goals and expectations for the

course. They used a combination of verbal explanations, visual aids, and examples to convey

the information effectively. The teacher also encouraged student participation by asking

questions and allowing time for discussions.

University of Perpetual Help System Laguna

Their teacher demonstrated a warm and welcoming demeanor towards the students. As they

entered the classroom, the teacher greeted each student individually, making an effort to

remember their names. This personal touch seemed to put the students at ease and created a

positive atmosphere for learning.

Overall, the first day of class with different subject teacher was well-organized and

engaging. The teacher created a positive and inclusive learning environment, fostering

student engagement and active participation. Their instructional strategies, classroom

management techniques, and ability to differentiate instruction demonstrated a strong

commitment to the students' academic growth. I look forward to observing further lessons

and witnessing the ongoing positive impact on the students' learning journey.

Second Week

Name of CT: Practice Teacher

Date: MAY 10, 2023 Time of Observation: 8:00-9:00

Subject: MAPEH Grade Level &Section: GRADE 7

Observation Report:

During the lesson, the teacher employed various techniques to engage the students

actively. They used real-life exa mples and encouraged students to relate the content to their

own experiences. The teacher also incorporated interactive activities, such as group work

and hands-on tasks, which kept the students actively involved and interested in the subject

matter.

The teacher established clear rules and expectations for behavior and actively enforced them

throughout the class. Students were reminded to raise their hands before speaking and to

treat each other with respect. The teacher handled disruptions promptly and calmly, ensuring

minimal disruption to the learning process.

I also observed that the attendance of students in the morning are almost complete but in the

afternoon they are only 30 students left but at least they are listening at their discussions.

I noticed that the teacher was aware of the diverse needs and abilities of the students. They

made an effort to provide different levels of support and challenge by adapting the

instructional materials and activities like making a instrument made in wood. This approach

Throughout the observation, the teacher demonstrated a positive and respectful

rapport with the students. The teacher greeted each student individually upon their arrival,

which helped establish a welcoming atmosphere. During instruction, the teacher maintained

eye contact, actively listened to students' questions, and provided clear and concise

explanations.

The teacher utilized a variety of teaching strategies to cater to different learning styles. I

observed the use of visual aids, such as slideshows and diagrams, to enhance the

understanding of complex concepts. The teacher also incorporated auditory elements by

engaging students in class discussions and asking open-ended questions. Additionally,

hands-on activities were implemented to promote experiential learning and active student

participation.

The teacher employed effective classroom management techniques to maintain an orderly

and focused learning environment. Clear expectations and rules were established at the

beginning of the class, ensuring students understood the behavioral standards. The teacher

skillfully used positive reinforcement, praising students for their efforts and contributions,

which encouraged active engagement and participation. Additionally, redirection strategies

were employed when necessary, maintaining a calm and respectful classroom atmosphere.

The teacher encouraged student participation by providing opportunities for small

group discussions and peer collaboration. Students were seen asking questions, sharing

ideas, and demonstrating enthusiasm for the subject matter. The incorporation of real-life

examples and relatable contexts helped to enhance student interest and comprehension.

Subject: RESEARCH, ENGLISH Grade Level &Section: ABM 11, STEM 11,

GRADE 10 and STEM 12B

Observation Report:

On September 18, we, the 4th year education students, were deployed to the

University of Perpetual Senior High School department to begin our internship, just like my

Cooperative Teacher when I was still observing during my 3rd year. She will still be my

cooperative teacher now.

Before we were assigned to our respective cooperative teachers, we were warmly

welcomed by the principal of the senior high school, Ma'am Michelle Basilio Estillore. She

shared encouraging words with us and also told us to hold on because right now we are just

practice teachers, but soon we should look forward to the 'L' that comes after our names,

which stands for 'LICENSURE PROFESSIONAL TEACHER.' We all felt elated by what

she said, and after that, she escorted us to our respective cooperative teachers.

On September 19, 2023, what I did was to supervise the grade 10 students while they

were doing their activities. I stayed in basic education because that's where Sir Jemer's

teaching schedule was for the day.

University of Perpetual Help System Laguna
Isabela Campus
Minante Uno, Cauayan City, Isabela

The aim of this observation that I am doing, was to gain a firsthand understanding of the

teaching methods employed by the practicing teacher and the classroom dynamics.

The students displayed enthusiasm for the subject and demonstrated a good understanding of

the concepts covered during the lesson. Their interactions with the practice teacher indicated

a comfortable and supportive learning environment.

In September 20, As I have learned from my internship this day that An individual
must know how to behave in the workplace. I realize that there is a huge difference between
university life and professional life. Everyone should be disciplined in the workplace. There
are so many do’s and don’ts at the workplace. This experience is helping me to learn those
manners that I can implement in my future career.

So this afternoon, Sir Jemer's teaching went well, and as I observe day by day, all the
students are listening to him, and he discusses all lessons very comprehensively. He explains
every bullet point of the lesson clearly, and he adds jokes to it so that the students can be
more engaged And after all the discussion, Sir reminds them of the deadlines for their
activities and projects, so that they don't have to rush in completing them.

Practice teaching has been an enlightening journey of growth, learning, and self-discovery. It
has reaffirmed my passion for teaching and my commitment to nurturing the next generation
of learners. I am immensely grateful to the entire University of Perpetual Help System-
Isabela Campus community, especially Mr. Jemer Andres, for his unwavering support and
guidance.

September 21-22, Since I was a former student, some instructors knew me. I was
assigned to collect evaluation scores from my students for their activity, which was a
surprise task. Despite the initial shock, I accepted it as an opportunity to practice my skills.
University of Perpetual Help System Laguna
Isabela Campus
Minante Uno, Cauayan City, Isabela

The students were attentive, taking notes, and Sir Jemer was an effective teacher, speaking
clearly and ensuring a thorough discussion.

Sir Jemer started with a prayer and discussed the topic. He informed students about their first
performance task, creating a Resume, which excited them.

Reflection:

During those hours, I felt a mix of emotions. I didn't know if I was excited, nervous,
or happy, but then thanks to God because this day started off lively. Sir Jemer Andres is my
cooperative teacher, and the first section he taught was the ABM 11. They were all quietly
reviewing because they would have a short quiz on their last discussion the same goes for the
section of STEM 11 B. In the afternoon schedule of Sir Jemer, we went to Basic Education
where he would teach Grade 10 students. They also had a quiz, and after that, they had a
meeting to discuss their upcoming performance task in their subject. Around 4:00, Sir Jemer
taught STEM 12B students, and their topic was about their research. Sir Jemer guided them
step by step on what should be included in their Chapter 3. All of Sir Jemer's students are
very active and follow what he says. As a practice teacher under Sir Jemer, my observation
of his teaching is that he is very fluent in speaking English, and it's delightful because he
explains it well to his students.

Overall, the observation was enjoyable, and I look forward to more experiences in
the coming days.
Though the day was tiring, I knew that in the end, I was looking forward to a victory in my

Date: September 27-29, 2023 Time of Observation: 7:30-5:00

Subject: Oral Communication and English 10 Grade Level &Section: STEM,ABM

About September 27, I’ve never thought that this day will come, after a one week

observation today is the day that I will be teaching a three sections, the ABM 11, STEM 11

and the Grade 10.

Preparing a Lesson Plan is not that easy, sometimes while planning the lesson you’ll

be suffering a tiredness and dizziness cost of lack of sleep. But, in God’s grace I successfully

finish my lesson plan and Because of my cooperating teacher, I became more confident in

teaching them. Since it was my first time teaching other students, I was really nervous, with

mixed emotions. But I realized that once you start the discussion in a good way, the class

will flow smoothly until it's finished.

September 28, the class schedule was only for grade 10. I gave

them a quiz on the topic we had discussed last time. I gave them 10 minutes to review, and

after that, they took the quiz. In the results of their quiz, I saw that almost all of them scored

high, and I was happy because they had retained what we had learned about our topic. In the

afternoon, Sir Jemer Andres gave me feedback about my first time teaching. His compliment

to me was that the teacher looks neat and presentable, and teachers encourage students to

participate. The areas I need to improve on are speaking with authority, mastering the lesson,

enhancing the quality of my PowerPoint presentations.

On this day, I taught again, but what I felt was not the same as what I felt when I first

started teaching because somehow I've gained the trust of my students, and I've gotten to

know them at least a little. I was deeply touched by my students in the ABM 11 strand

because I didn't expect that they would give me a bracelet that they made themselves. I didn't

know how I would feel then because I was so moved and incredibly happy knowing that

even though they had only known me for a short while, they already appreciated me as their

practice teacher.

And then I realized that I am so blessed in the course I am pursuing right now because

I don't know what kind of impact I have on each student I teach. Our internship is only half a

day on Fridays, and Ma'am Mhikasa told us to create our narrative report and lesson plan for

next week.

Reflection:

I thought it would be difficult for me, but it turns out, as long as you enjoy what

you're doing, you won't get tired. Until the end of the day, I was happy with how it went, and

my cooperating teacher told me that I would be giving a quiz to the Grade 10 students

tomorrow.

I accepted Sir's comments as constructive feedback to help me improve as a practice

intern. My cooperating teacher also told me to create a lesson plan for my teaching in grade

11 ABM and STEM for tomorrow.

As their teacher, my greatest joy has been witnessing their growth, both academically

and personally. It's been an honor to watch their face challenges with determination,

celebrate their achievements, and navigate the sometimes rocky path of their learning with

resilience.

Observation Report:

Month of November 6, Upon entering the classroom, there was a palpable sense of

anticipation in the air. A teacher, Sir. Jemer Andres, a vibrant blend of enthusiasm and

expertise, commanded the room from the front. Their demeanor radiated a contagious

passion for the subject, immediately capturing the students’ attention. With a warm smile

and encouraging tone, they commenced the class, sparking curiosity and establishing the

day's exploratory tone.

The room's dynamics were enthralling as students actively participated, sharing

diverse ideas and perspectives that enriched the discussions. It was a melting pot of varied

thoughts and personalities, each contributing a distinct shade to the collective learning

canvas.

The lesson itself seamlessly blended traditional teaching with modern pedagogy. Visual aids,

interactive presentations, and engaging discussions merged to craft an immersive learning

experience. The teacher adeptly shifted between teaching methods, ensuring inclusivity and

empowering every student to engage.

Observing this classroom on November 6th underscored the transformative power of

education. It demonstrated that beyond a mere date on the calendar, each day held the

potential for profound experiences and the cultivation of knowledge that transcended the

physical confines of the space.

As the class progressed in November 7, it became evident that learning extended far

beyond textbooks. Critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration took precedence.

Students enthusiastically partook in group activities, brainstorming solutions, fostering a

collaborative spirit that extended beyond the classroom walls.

However, beyond academic pursuits, a sense of camaraderie and mutual respect pervaded the

room. Laughter intertwined with serious discussions, nurturing an environment where

learning wasn’t merely a task but a shared journey.

By day's end, the classroom had witnessed a transformation. Minds were stimulated,

perspectives widened, and connections forged. The vibrant energy within those walls wasn’t

a result of just one lesson; it was the culmination of dedication, passion, and a collective

commitment to growth and discovery.

At this day November 8 Sir. Jemer Andres announced to the students of ABM and

STEM 11 their performance task at their oral communication subject and that performance

task will be “memorized speech”, everyone of them must participate because, it was a big

part of their grade, each student will write down a 1 topic in a small sheet of paper, then

every paper will be collected to put it in a jar.

University of Perpetual Help System Laguna
Isabela Campus
Minante Uno, Cauayan City, Isabela

Every students will pull out a paper and those paper will be their topic on their memorized

speech.

However, that performance tasks will be a big help for them to practice their speaking skills

and how they can communicate to their audiences.

And at this day, it was my first time to teach in the level of grade 10 students.

On November 9th, the grade 10 students engaged in a creative and insightful activity

in their English class. The objective of the day's assignment was to harness their writing

skills and encourage them to express their thoughts through compelling narratives.

The classroom atmosphere was charged with anticipation as the students eagerly awaited

their turn to share their literary creations. Mrs. Anderson, the English teacher, had

meticulously designed the activity to not only assess their language proficiency but also to

foster creativity and critical thinking.

Reflection:

So If I would be a teacher someday, I would always be blessed if my students are responsive

and attentive even do they don’t provide the correct answer. I want a students who are

showing participation and willingness to learn because that’s the main reason why they

attend a class. Moreover, someday I will be also patient if they really don’t know the lesson,

because my role is really to make the subject easy.

On November 13th, the Grade 10 students delved into the timeless masterpiece,

"Oedipus Rex," in their English class. With a blend of curiosity and anticipation, the students

gathered to unravel the intricacies of Sophocles' tragic tale under the guidance of me.

The classroom was transformed into an intellectual arena as I expertly navigated the students

through the plot, characters, and the underlying themes of fate and hubris within the play.

The students attentively absorbed the nuances of Greek tragedy, captivated by Oedipus's

relentless pursuit of truth and the inevitable tragedy that awaited him.

On November 14th, an air of excitement filled the Grade 10 English class as students

received an intriguing assignment from me. The task at hand was to prepare for an upcoming

role play centered around scenarios inspired by the timeless Greek tragedy, "Oedipus Rex."

The goal was to bring the narrative to life through creative and thought-provoking role play

scenarios that would showcase both their understanding of the material and their ability to

explore alternative perspectives.

Upon the completion of the quiz, I seamlessly transitioned the class into a rehearsal

space. Understanding the importance of practical application, she encouraged the students to

channel their creative energies into refining their role play performances. Each group

fervently utilized the remaining time, fine-tuning dialogue delivery, experimenting with

gestures, and ensuring a seamless integration of their scenarios.

In the ABM and STEM classes November 16, students engaged in a discourse that

delved into the nuances of effective communication. Mrs. Paulien explored key elements

such as articulation, tone, body language, and pacing, providing practical insights into the art

of delivering impactful speeches. The students actively participated, demonstrating an

Meanwhile, in the Grade 10 English class, the culmination of weeks of preparation

and creativity unfolded with the highly anticipated role play presentations. The students,

donned in costumes that brought the characters of "Oedipus Rex" to life, delivered

compelling performances. Each group showcased a deep understanding of the play, skillfully

blending theatrical elements with academic insights.

After an engaging discussion on the principles of speech delivery in both the ABM

and STEM classes on November 17, an additional layer of accountability was introduced.

The students were informed that their note-taking habits would be under scrutiny to ensure

active participation and comprehension.

With a sense of responsibility in the air, students diligently pulled out their notebooks,

poised to demonstrate their commitment to the learning process. As the I walked through the

aisles, it became evident that many students had conscientiously recorded key points and

insights from the discussion.

I commended the students for their efforts, emphasizing the importance of thorough note-

SEMINAR
October 2, 2023
Theme: Empowering Achievement in Lesson Planning and Effective Classroom
Readiness for Perpetualite Future Educators
Topic 1: Effective Teaching and Learning Strategies
Resource Speaker: Dr. MARK-JOHN R. PRESTOZA
The seminar on "Unpacking of Standards and Competencies & Learning Progression and
Targets" was a transformative educational event that took place on October 2, 2023. It
brought together a diverse group of participants, including educators, all driven by a
common goal – to enhance the quality of education and better prepare students for the future.
The seminar began with an inspiring keynote address delivered by Dr. Mark-John, a
renowned education expert. Dr. MJ stressed the importance of clearly defining learning
standards and competencies, as they serve as the foundation upon which an effective
education system is built. We were reminded that well-defined standards and competencies
are essential for promoting consistency, ensuring a high quality of education, and fostering
meaningful learning experiences.
While having the seminar, Dr. Mj Explained to us the concept of standards and
competencies, Practical strategies for breaking down complex standards into manageable
learning objectives, Understanding the concept of learning progression, and designing
learning targets that are specific, measurable, and achievable.
After the sessions, we engaged in a series of applying the knowledge we gained. We worked
collaboratively on real-world examples and case studies, by discussing how to unpack
standards, set learning targets, and design learning progressions for various subjects and
grade levels.
The seminar was a remarkable event that fostered a deeper understanding of the essential
components of education. By unpacking standards, setting clear learning targets, and
understanding learning progression, educators left the seminar better equipped to provide
students with a meaningful and effective learning experience. This seminar served as a

Topic 2: Assessment strategies in both flexible and traditional settings, as well as the
development of skills and discussions related to effective assessment practices.
Resource Speaker: Dr. JUNEL M. MADARANG

The seminar on "Assessment Strategies in Both Flexible and Traditional Settings, as well as
Development" was a pivotal event that enlightened participants about the critical role of
assessments in education. It provided a platform to explore diverse strategies for assessing
students in both traditional and flexible learning settings, and highlighted the necessity for
adaptability and innovation in the field of assessment. The event underscored the importance
of assessments as a means to measure learning and promote student success, regardless of
the educational environment.
Dr. Junel mentioned that when it comes to assessment, better assessment means better
teaching, better teaching means better learning, better learning means better students, and
better students mean better opportunities for a better life.
Dr. Junel asked us why we give grades to the students. We couldn't answer, so he told us that
we give grades to the students to SORT, to MOTIVATE, and to PROVIDE FEEDBACK.
He also shared with us what the author Carol Tomlinson said, 'Assessment is today's means
of understanding how to modify tomorrow's instruction.
My feedback on what Sir Junel shared with us about the assessing topic is that it's not just
about the grades of the children, but it also involves your relationship as a teacher with the
children. It's about understanding the child's situation, such as times when they can't attend
school and the reasons they may have difficulty focusing on their studies. Sir Junel told us
that all reasons are valid, whether they are shallow or deep. As teachers, we should have an
understanding of the children so that we can build a good relationship between students and
teachers. This way, teachers can further help the students to improve and become more
active in their studies.

playing the video, and how to design text with pictures to be placed in the PowerPoint.
This seminar has greatly benefited us because, as pre-service teachers who are also intern
students, we are beginning to teach. With what we have learned today, we will be able to
apply all the strategies that Dean Glenn taught us, such as how to use PowerPoint, how to
design, and many more.

Theme: Personality Development Seminar for Pre-service Teachers
Resource Speaker: Ednor V. Maximo
Topic: Part 2 of the Personality Development Seminar with the theme, "Unveiling the Educator
Within: Personality Enhancement for Impactful Teaching."
The continuation of the Personality Development Seminar for fourth-year Teacher Education
students, themed "Unveiling the Educator Within: Personality Enhancement for Impactful
Teaching," took an unexpected and engaging turn with the activity facilitated by Sir Ednor.
This particular session focused on a hands-on experience of doing our makeup, introducing a
unique and perhaps unconventional element to the seminar.
The act of doing our makeup on our own transcends the superficial aspects of appearance. It
becomes a metaphor for the intentional and personal effort required to enhance and present
oneself effectively. As educators, our presence in the classroom is not solely about
disseminating knowledge but also about creating an environment that fosters positive
engagement and learning.
This unconventional activity likely served as a platform for self-reflection. As future
educators, the emphasis on "unveiling" the educator within speaks to the idea of authenticity.
By engaging in a personal grooming activity, students were prompted to consider how they
present themselves to the world and, by extension, to their students.
As a reflection, the makeup activity within the Personality Development Seminar
demonstrates the multifaceted nature of education. While the core principles of effective
teaching, pedagogy, and subject expertise remain crucial, the incorporation of activities that
touch on personal development adds a layer of depth.
