Summarize Self-Reflection Growth Areas:
Explain why these are your priority areas of growth and how focusing on these development areas will help
you improve as a professional. This will prepare you for Professional Growth Plan development.
In the past I have felt like I did well with my questioning and discussion techniques, but I have
found that my old techniques are not as well received by my new students. Questioning is an
important practice that allows the teacher to get a good idea of student understanding, as
well as what may need to be covered more. I have noticed that some of my discussion
questions will have a handful of students participate, but I would like to see the participation
in my questioning grow so that I am not just hearing from a handful of students. I also plan on
communicating with families more. In the past I have done a much better job with this, but
unfortunately, I have let this important aspect of my job slide as I adjust to the new school.
Additional information about how administration would like us to log parent communication
would be greatly appreciated. I would also like to be intentional about reaching out to home
about the positive things happening in class instead of just the negative things like behavior
issues or missing assignments.
