MALILIPOT ALBAY
- Without learning traditional art, you can't be the true Master of Digital Art as traditional
art provides the basics of it. Traditional art matters in a lot of many aspects and for jumping into
other art fields you need to master the basics!
- Passed down through generations, traditional art provides a shared experience for the
entire community. With values, cultural practices, and belief systems embedded in these art
forms, they often form a common language through which the different communities that
fabricate the society can be engaged.
What are some traditional art forms that painters might study?
- Traditional art forms such as painting, sculpture, and architecture have long been an
important source of inspiration for contemporary artists. By studying the works of the masters,
contemporary artists can develop their own unique styles and techniques.
How can a painter incorporate traditional techniques into their own work?
- Examples include the incorporation of calligraphy into paintings and the use of
embroidery or weaving, for instance, in the textile works of Alighiero e Boetti or the digitally
spun tapestries of Pae White. These works often blur the boundary between art and craft,
representing a hybrid of cultural traditions.
How can a painter balance traditional techniques with their own personal
style?
- Learning traditional techniques requires the technique to be seen personally and hands-on
practice to understand its methods and process. Understanding the methods and process is the
most important step to applying traditional techniques properly. An enjoyable way of learning
traditional techniques is by visiting places such as museums, art bazaars, and conventions.
Traditional techniques are skills that require actual experience in order to hone and develop. It is
not like a filter and automated features of computer graphic programs that make creation faster.
- You can begin to understand and develop your unique art style by studying art history at
large and more specifically, your favorite type of art, and identifying the artists you like. Doing
so will not only help you create a cohesive body of art, but it can also help with your technical
skill.
What are some challenges that painters might face when studying traditional
art?
- FINANCIAL CHALLENGES
This is the biggest challenge that an artist must face. They get to hear a lot that there’s no money
in what they are doing, and it’s true. You can only earn millions after you put in continuous years
of hard work! New artists are constantly worrying about the next paycheck and the previous
one. They must cut down and keep track of their finances and expenditure all the time and to top
it off, art supplies are not cheap.
FEAR OF CRITICS
Artists are often scared of not being understood. This gives birth to the fear of criticism.
Regardless of the form of art you create people who do not understand art will find a way to
express their dislike. You might want everyone to like your work, but the truth is that not
everyone will get the context of your artwork. However, don’t let this get to you. Do not doubt
yourself and find fulfillment in what you do. People not liking your work means your work is
unique and exceptional!
The toughest challenge of being an artist is to know where to start. Once you are on your path of
artmaking, face your art challenges, be fierce, roll up your sleeves and get to work. Be patient
and you will succeed!
