The Kovako road-mobile unloader

From ship to storage

in one operation
The Kovako unloader unloads the cargo
from the ship and conveys it direct to
the storage facility. Only a pipeline is
needed in the port. The unloader carries
all the necessary equipment on the
trailer complete with either diesel or
electric drive. Kovako unloader capacities
up to 280 tonnes per hour are available.

No dust nuisance
The pneumatic Kovako unloader handles
powdery materials such as cement,
alumina, fly ash, gypsum, etc. without
causing any dust nuisance. The vacuum
system combined with the long reach
of the suction arm enables dust-free
operation.

High-efficiency unloading
The long and highly manoeuvrable
suction arm allows uninterrupted
unloading from the hold of the ship,
whether a coaster or an inland vessel.
The suction arm and the vacuum system
pick up all the cargo right down to the
bottom of the hold, thus minimising
cleanup and maximising efficiency.

State-of-the-art technology

1 Remote control allows the operator to select the
best position for operating the suction arm. The
ship unloader is PLC-controlled and fully automatic.
2 Suction pickup is environmentally clean and
highly efficient. The material is mixed with air at
the nozzle and then vacuumed to the unloader.
3 The suction arm is divided into four sections to
ensure optimum reach throughout the hold. This
makes for high efficiency and minimum cleanup.
4 The material is conveyed through the suction
piping into the transfer vessel.
10 The ship unloader is connected to the on-shore
conveying pipeline via a rubber hose. The
ship unloader simply blows the material through
this pipeline to the storage facility. No other
equipment is needed.
11 The sophisticated sound-proof enclosure and
oversize exhaust dampers ensure an extremely
low noise level. All side doors can be opened to
allow maximum access for maintenance work.
12 The ship unloader is fully road-mobile.

5 High-efficiency filters clean the conveying air

before it enters the vacuum pump.

6 The compact high-performance vacuum pump

ensures reliable and energy-efficient suction.

7 A single diesel engine drives the vacuum pump,

the compressor and auxiliary equipment.
The fuel tank is integrated in the trailer chassis.

8 The compact high-performance compressor

provides the air needed for the pressure
conveying process.

9 The conveying air from the compressor is mixed

with material in the transfer vessel, and the
mixture is blown through the bottom outlet of
the tank to the conveying line. The system is
self-adjusting to achieve an optimum conveying
mixture. A practically continuous conveying
process is achieved by switching between vacuum
and pressure cycles in the transfer vessels.
