Motivation:

The teacher presents a conversation among three friends.

Presentation:
1. Observe the conversation. It seems that Jerry is a little
confused with what Tom said.
2. Notice the two underlined sentences. Do these
sentences convey different messages or do they have
the same meaning expressed in different ways?
3. Compare the two sentences. What changed?
