HTML5 is a markup language used for constructing and give out content on the World Wide Web.

It is
the fifth and last major HTML version that is a World Wide Web Consortium recommendation. The
contemporary specification is known as the HTML Living Standard. It was officially released in January
22, 2008 13 years had passed already. The developer of HTML5 was World Wide Web Consortium,
WHATWG, Wix.com, Dave Hyatt. HTML5 is used by 89.2% of all the websites whose markup language
we know. The diagram shows the percentage of websites using HTML5 as markup language. HTML5 is
used by 89.2% of all the websites. And in 2004 the W3C suggest their development with the help and
support from Mozilla and opera but they disagree with it due to the foreseen of the new direction of the
web. But Apple, Mozilla, and Opera decided to pursue their proposal by working on the project with the
use of Web Hypertext Application Technology Working Group (WHATWG).

However, in 2006 W3C teamed up with WHATWG for the development. HTML5 is the newest version of
HTML that is used to develop websites. It can be used to write web application that still work without an
internet connection. It can handle high definition of video and deliver some extraordinary graphic. It
does not even require to have an additional software like browser plugins. It is also a cross-platform and
it works perfectly good and nicely in any platform as long as the browser supports HTML5. Right now,
HTML5 is still under development. Nonetheless, major browsers support most of the new HTML5
elements along with the Google APIs (Application programming interfaces). New features of HTML5 are
application cache that allows the developers to create an offline applications, Drag and drop is a feature
that allows users to drag and drop an element to another locations. And there’s more and new features
of HTML5 such as geolocation, new input types, server-sent events(SSE), web storage, and web worker.
And also these are the added features in HTML5, Audio and Video tags are the two major addition to
HTML5. It allows developers to embed a video or audio on their website.

Vector Graphics This is a new addition to the revised version which has hugely impacted the use of
Adobe Flash in websites. It can be used to draw graphics with various shapes and colors via scripting
usually JS. Header and Footer With these new tags, there is no longer a need to identify the two
elements with a <div> tag. Footer is placed at the end of the web page while Header is placed at the
start of the web page. The <figcaption> tag defines a caption for a <figure> element. This tag provides a
container for content that is equivalent to a figure. It can be used to group a caption with one or more
images, a block of code, or other content. The <nav> tag defines a set of navigation links. The progress
tag is used to check the progress of a task during the execution. The placeholder attribute specifies a
short hint that describes the expected value of an input field/text area. Email attribute When the input
type in the form set as email, then the browser gets the instruction from the code to write a valid format
email.
