ACCOMPLISHMENT REPORT

Title of PPA: Project BASIC (Basic Arithmetic Skills Intervention Cards) for Grade
Six Learners

Period Covered: Nov.7 ,2022 – July 7,2023

Target Beneficiaries: Grade 6 pupils

Introduction:

During Pre- Assessment of NIT2L held on September 2022, 82.5 % or 33

among 42 Grade Six learners are classified as low numerates. The assessment
result reveals that students have difficulties in problem solving and performing
operations on numbers as seen on each component.

To ensure the continuous improvement of education, it is important to

improve the teaching strategies of every teacher to address the learning gaps and
losses brought about by covid- 19 pandemic.

Brief description and objectives:

Project BASIC (Basic Arithmetic Skills Intervention Cards) for Grade Six
Learners is an intervention program to help learners understand the basic steps in
developing numeracy skills among our Grade Six Learners.

Objectives:

 Improve numeracy skills of learners needed to achieve grade 6 set of

competencies in Mathematics.
 Improve scores in NIT2L.
 achieve 85 % average numeracy rate level in NIT2L.

Highlights of Accomplishments:

As shown in the figure above there was a significant increase in the Mean
Percentage Scores of the Grade 6 learners from the first quarter to the third quarter
of the S.Y. 2022-2023.

From the pre-test 18% of the learners were average numerate and 83% were
low numerates, after conducting Project BASIC, 14% of the students were Advance
Numerate, 73 % were average numerates and only 15% remained low numerates. A
total of 87% of the students achieved an advanced and average numeracy level.

A considerable increase in the scores may be attributed to the continuous

intervention made through Project BASIC which was conducted every grading
period focusing on the competencies per quarter.

Ways Forward and Recommendations:

In the coming school years, it is highly recommended that Project BASIC will
not only be introduced to Grade 6 learners but to all Grade levels to help improve
the mathematical skills of learners across the grade levels. It is also recommended
that the intervention cards be self-made by the teachers to ensure appropriate
competencies will be developed per grade level.
