IESAC Innovation of Electrolyte Ship Cargo to Reduce Fossil Fuel

and Combat Climate Change

Climate change is now affecting every country on every continent. It makes people are
experiencing the significant impacts of changing weather patterns, rising sea levels, and more
extreme weather dearly today and even more tomorrow. The greenhouse gas emissions from
human activities are driving climate change and continue to rise. Emissions anywhere affect
people everywhere. Indonesian countries donated 5% of emissions gas from the total causes of
global warming around the world and one of the biggest contributor emissions located in the
maritime. Indonesia consists of 17,499 islands with a total area of around 7.81 million km2 and
3.25 million km2 is an ocean, so it requires that Indonesia certainly has sea transportation.
One of the sea transportations in Indonesia is a cargo ship, which is often used to transport goods
between islands, and actually this ship still using fossil fuel. The increasing pattern of public
consumption will be affected by the increasing number of ships and this case same as increasing
fossil fuel usage which ends with emissions that pollute the air and sea areas. Therefore,
Indonesia and all countries around the world need green energy that can replace the damage of
fossil fuels.
This project aims to create the fuel of cargo ships using electrolyte of seawater. Seawater known
as water contains a lot of saline solution (strong electrolyte) that can be converted into
electricity with the principle of electrolysis using the help of electrodes and chemical reactions
called redox (reduction and oxidation) by converting cargo ship fuel from fossil fuels to
electrolyte solutions, it will certainly reduce pollution and gas emissions as the main cause of
global warming because electricity is friendly energy. This project is a long-term project that
can benefit the population and government of Indonesia. In addition to income from investors,
this project can also increase the potential of Indonesia green shipping and reduce quite high
pollution to help developing countries move toward a low-carbon.
