Samsung Group was founded in city Daegu,

Korea on March 1, 1938. Its founder is an
entrepreneur Byeong Chul Chi, whose starting
capital was only 2,000 dollars. The name of the
company "Samsung" translated from Korean
means "three stars". One of the versions about the
origin of the name says that the entrepreneur had
three sons.
The company experienced its second birth in 1951. After
the war, the business was completely destroyed by the
warring parties, but the entrepreneurial spirit cannot be
destroyed, and starting from scratch, Byeong Chul Chi
revived the firm, achieving even greater prosperity in just
a year. His interests included: transportation of sugar,
wool, other consumer goods, trading in securities.
 Today, Samsung Group's advanced division has become a world leader in the
field of electronics and household appliances. The corporation is headed by Lee
Kun Hee, the founder's son.
