engineering activities and projects (Turkey, Thailand, Indonesia and New Zealand), including FEEDS, Field Operations
and Tendering as well as visits to clients for business development.

Senior Pre‐commissioning/Commissioning Engineer
 After several years, I returned to working in Western Europe and took on a senior role related to pre-commissioning
and commissioning in the Norwegian sector.
 My role includes but is not limited to managing a number of technical and engineering activities related to pre-
commissioning and commissioning such as; spool(s) replacement, flooding, cleaning, gauging, hydrostatic testing, post
tie-in leak testing, barrier testing, dewatering with nitrogen gas and subsequent commissioning, managing resources
across a number of teams, subcontractors, and developing detailed project plans, procedures and maintaining high-
levels of performance and quality and ensuring compliance with all relevant project documentation, standards and
contractual obligations, including a high standard of safety performance.

Saipem, Indonesia June 2017 – June 2019


Senior Pre‐commissioning/Commissioning Engineer
 Transferred from Saipem Milan, I took on a senior management role which included the pre-commissioning and
commissioning of 2 off 24” pipelines from offshore to onshore in West Papua, Indonesia. Managed a variety of
technical engineering activities related to pre-commissioning such as flooding, cleaning, gauging, hydrostatic testing.
 Managed multi-disciplined resources across a number of teams including both Saipem and client as well as
Contractors/Subcontractors/Vendors.
 Developed detailed project plans and maintained high-levels of performance and quality on each task.
 Followed and maintained agreed method statements and undertook risk assessments throughout delivery.
 Liaised with the client and established good relationships with senior stakeholders.
 Familiar with the permit to work system and like to implement a good safety culture throughout site.

Saipem Milan, Italy January 2016 – April 2017


Senior Pre‐commissioning/Commissioning Engineer
 After transferring from Saipem Sharjah to Saipem Milan, I took on a senior role which included and not limited to;
detailing the pre-commissioning philosophy, design of pre-commissioning heads, reviewing Subcontractor
documentation, overseeing Fabrication Subcontractors and managing the pre- commissioning Subcontractor on site.
 The role involved pre-commissioning of 2 off 99km x 28” Oil & Gas Pipelines and 5.9km x 18” A to D Pipeline. Pre-
commissioning activities completed included, flooding, cleaning, gauging, hydrostatic testing, valve spools gauging,
caliper survey, dewatering and drying.
 Successful delivery of the work on the Kashagan Field Development Project for the North Caspian Operating Company
NV in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
 Dealing efficiently and on own initiative with a high-volume workload which required disciplined time management.
 Completed deliverables to time and within the agreed budget
 Responsible for delivery within an agreed budget and achieved through strong scope and resource management whilst
overcoming technical challenges arising during delivery.

Saipem Sharjah, UAE November 2008 – December 2015


Senior Pre‐commissioning/Commissioning Engineer – Lead (Department Manager)
 Headhunted by Saipem to set up and manage the pre-commissioning/commissioning department in the UAE. I was
also responsible for project management of the pre-commissioning and commissioning activities for contracts
awarded by Saudi Aramco and other clients in the Middle-East.
 Working for the Saipem branch in Sharjah, UAE, a leading company providing engineering, procurement, installation
and construction services to the oil and gas industry, I undertook a number of key projects across the region.
 Undertook recruitment and training of pre-commissioning/commissioning personnel from graduates to site personnel
to enable Saipem Sharjah to perform all pre-commissioning and commissioning/start up works using in-house
personnel.
 Reviewed client documentation and detailed technical and commercial requirements.
 Responsible for strategic planning and developing estimates and future forecasts, providing technical and commercial
assistance, support and risk analysis, chairing meetings with senior client representatives and senior management,
enhancing existing client relationships and identifying new opportunities for Saipem within the Middle East region.
 Procurement of resources, commercial and financial management, management of and fabrication of permanent and
temporary structures and managing sub-contractors, technical and commercial review of bid packages, preparation of
technical and commercial proposals for projects in the Middle East region related to the installation of subsea
pipelines, spools and structures, an in particular; pre- commissioning, commissioning and start up activities.
 Prepared proposals, specifications and procedures for pre-commissioning activities (i.e. Preparation of working
procedures for flooding, cleaning, gauging, hydrostatic testing etc.), providing technical support and guidance and
chairing HAZID’s, HAZOP’s and HIRA’s, defining and selection of equipment, managing pre-commissioning and
commissioning delivery activities associated with major projects in the Middle East region.
 Reviewing and ensuring that sub-contractor documentation and operational procedures aligned with client
specifications and requirements.
 Analysis of client requirements, alignment of delivery in accordance with the schedule and to quality standards,
identifying and issuing technical queries, planning delivery of work, liaising with project interface team members,
controlling and coordinating operations in the field – both onshore and offshore.
 Providing technical engineering assistance and support to field operations.
 The role enhanced my experience in effectively working within a multi-disciplined team, with people from all
backgrounds and with internal and external management and stakeholders.
 Managed multiple complex projects from the initial design, installation to the final pre-commissioning, commissioning
and start-up phases.
 Managed and lead resources in producing punch lists for mechanical completion activities.
 Reviewing fabrication drawings, overseeing fabrication and testing of subsea spools, risers, drop-out spools, reviewing
As-built/Manufacturers Record books, managing, reviewing and actioning any NCR’s.
 Attended technical design reviews to implement strategies, policies, procedures and specifications to ensure and effect

 All projects were completed successfully and involved extensive liaison with many cross-functional departments,
organising resources and directing/instructing offshore vessels in order to complete the pre-
commissioning/commissioning works.

tower, access platforms and other platform related structures.

Commercial Team Leader
 Worked for a company providing services to the oil and gas industry in the Gulf of Mexico region, based in Houston,
Texas, USA. The role involved evaluating and pricing tenders for small, medium and large oil and gas pre-
commissioning and commissioning projects.
 Responsible for reviewing commercial contracts, recommending approvals, ensuring pricing structure and binding
documentation is properly analysed and meets devolved financial/commercial levels or is approved prior to
presentation to the client. Tendered for and chaired meetings with clients detailing flooding, cleaning, gauging,
hydrostatic testing, caliper survey, baseline ILI survey, dewatering, swabbing, air drying, vacuum drying and
commissioning with hydrocarbon gas.
 Strategic planning and the production of forecasts, providing technical assistance and commercial support and
analysing potential risk during the production of tenders.
 Attending clarification meetings with customers, enhancing existing client relationships and seeking new
opportunities.

 Preparing technical and commercial tenders for pre-commissioning and commissioning of oil and gas pipelines and
process facilities for works in the Northern North Sea, Europe and West Africa regions.
 Preparing quarterly and annual forecasts, achieving sales targets and undertaking commercial risk analysis.

to and throughout Europe and West Africa.

Field Engineer/Project Engineer/Project Manager
 I started work as a Field Engineer and was duly promoted after a number of successful projects and held the position of
Project Manager, working on medium to large-scale pre-commissioning/commissioning projects both onshore and
offshore for a number of major clients with total contract values between £5m-£25m. The role involved managing staff
during the engineering phase and also field personnel during operations phases, ensuring that all work was completed
in compliance with contract terms and conditions. Responsibilities included project planning, scheduling, monitoring,
and reporting project performance, tracking of resources and man-hours, risk analysis and defining processes and
procedures across the project. In addition, the role involved cost estimating and allocating resources to work activities.
Where appropriate, identifying and raising variations and communicating the costs and schedule. Other activities
involved conducting HAZOPs/HAZIDs, procuring equipment and leading field operations both onshore and offshore in
the UK sector and overseas.
 Experienced in executing and managing flooding, cleaning, gauging, hydrostatic testing, caliper survey, baseline ILI
survey, Dewatering, Swabbing, Air/Vacuum Drying, and commissioning.
 Many pre-commissioning and commissioning projects completed both onshore and offshore.
 Also experienced in Umbilical’s testing and commissioning.
 The positions held required interfacing with clients, accurate reporting of daily/weekly events, weekly/monthly
reporting of costs, resources, man-hours spent, safety reports/incidents and raising invoices.
 Furthermore, my experience also extends to and includes but not limited to; Nitrogen/Helium Leak Testing/Detection
(topsides pre-commissioning/commissioning), Pipe Freezing and Refrigerant Recovery.
