Rationale :

The students of grade 12 Animal Production initiated this income generating project
to be a venue of laboratory and practical experience and will foster their learning and
exploring minds. Hog Raising will provide competitive skills and enhance knowledge
regarding good animal husbandry. This will also guide the students how to start and manage
related businesses in the future. This project will further enable the students to practice
theoretical experience from the classroom to the actual industry that they are about to
embark.

Background :

The Grade 12 Animal Production students of Quintin Quijano Sr. Agricultural School
will be having their first hog raising project in SY. 2023-2024. As an agricultural school, the
students are expected to come up and participate in an industry that will encourage and
nurture their learning experiences. This project is an assurance of the school’s goals and
objectives of equipping their students with competitive skills and life-long learnings.

Objectives :

1. To enhance the skills of Senior High School Animal Production students on hog
raising.

2. To acquire practical knowledge and to gain actual experience on hog raising.

3. To expose students to potential careers in agriculture, veterinary science, and related

fields.

4. To teach students about the business side of hog farming. This includes
understanding the costs involved, potential profits, market dynamics, and the
economic importance of the swine industry.
