I. Introduction

Gigatt Printing Services and Trading was founded in 2014 by business partners Edwin
Nerison, and Bino Agustin. It is a printing press located in Bacoor, Cavite, it started as a
small-scale printing press that produces packaging goods for locals in Bacoor, Cavite, and
is now one of the fastest growing printing presses in the country, with clients such as
SnR, One Championship, Red bull, and many more large companies.

II. Mission

The mission of Gigatt Printing Services and Trading is to provide high quality printing
services to national and local businesses, by providing them with high quality products
and fair prices, it ensures that the clients are satisfied with the outcome of the printing
services.

III. Vision

The vision of Gigatt Printing Services is that it believes that quality comes first, before
quantity, its vision is to always deliver high quality products to clients and to always leave
room for improvement and further development.
I. 2D Before Improvement
Facility System Designs

The structural design of the current production area is it is a square area of 250sqm and with the
height of at least 20 ft. it has 2 entrances/exits, one is a door and the other one is a gate were finished
products, supplies, equipment, and other tools for production enter and exit the production area. The
production area has a small wall covering the tools and supplies area.

Layout Design

The layout design for the facility is full of equipment and machineries, there are more machines
than employees, starting from the storage of papers they make their way to the printers where the raw
paper is printed and after printing it continues to UV Coating machine or the spot UV coating machine, if
it is necessary to the production, if not the printed materials are headed straight to the die cutting
machine where it is cut and is delivered to the assembly area where the products reach it’s final step
where they are assembled and packed,

Handling System Design

The handling system design in the current facility is that everything is carried through a trolley
pushcart where paper from storage area to printers are carried and in post-production as well where the
trolley is used to carry the finished products into the delivery vehicles. The trolley is used everywhere
from transporting paper and transporting other supplies within the production area, some items that are
small are carried by hand as well.
II. 2D After Improvement
Facility System Design

The structure of the proposed facility improvements is identical to the current one, with a
square area of 250sqm and a height of at least 20ft, the proposed facility lost the small wall covering the
tools section of the facility.

Layout Design

In the proposed facility, the number of machineries did not change yet the layout of the facility
changed, tailoring the facility to run efficiently, when the machineries were rearranged from storage area
to the printing machines and to the die cutting or lamination area to the assembly area, it all flows in a
straight motion rather than it is going back in forth from the current facility.

Handling System Design

The handling of the proposed facility improvements is still the same as the current one, the
changes are it is more spacious to have more trolleys around or is much more comfortable to carry
around items in the production area.
Cost Benefit Analysis

Quantitative Analysis

With the proposed facility improvements, the profits of the company would be much bigger,
since the current problem with the production area is that it is too crowded with machineries that are
big, with the proposed improvements, the company can get more machineries and improving the variety
of work that can be done in the company.

Qualitative Analysis

With the proposed facility improvements in the production area, the employees are now much
more comfortable to move around and can initially perform better than they used to, and with a less
crowded area the machineries are expected to overheat less rather than before. Another improvement
would be the overall aesthetic of the production area, it looks cleaner with a better facility system.

Financial Analysis

The financials in the proposed improvements in the production area cost less, since it would be
most likely arrangements of the machinery and other aspects in the production area, it would only cost
money to remove the small wall in the current layout. In the development or growth of the company it
would be possible to purchase machines in the future since there is more space in the production area.

Capacity, Quality, Space. Efficiency Gains

The gains of the proposed improvements in the facility are that there is much more space to
work on to, the company since then plans to purchase more machines, that perform certain functions
and with those machines the capacity and variety of work will be greatly improved. Another gain is the
quality of work done, since the employees are much more comfortable to move around and perform
their job in an organized facility where there is a straight-line system from the pre-production to the
post-production. In the efficiency gains, the company can perform much more efficiently since there is
more space to move around, and the machines are prone to less overheating since it is not crowded
anymore as it used to be, the employees would feel better working in a less crowded facility.
Ergonomics, Safety and Health, Environmental improvements

For the ergonomics in the proposed plan, it is more ergonomic than before since there is a
straight-line flow system in the production area, from pre-production to post-production it moves from
one process to another in a straight manner, from storage to printing, from printing to UV lamination,
and from there to die cutting, and from die cutting to the assembly area. For safety and health
improvements, it is now less crowded and less hot since the production area isn’t as crowded as before
and in the environmental improvements in the facility, the company always manage their waste properly,
since the waste in a printing press is 95% recyclable paper, junk shops gather them to be recycled
properly.

Payback Period/ ROI

The payback period for the improvements in the company would be immediate since the budget
required for the improvements in the production area is very small since most of it is rearranging and the
only thing that would cost money is to remove a small wall in the production area. For the ROI it would
also be immediate since there is little budgeting involved in this proposed plan.
