Introduction:

Running a global business looks a lot different than running a business that is local and is

not as large and on an international spectrum. Global businesses have to maintain an advantage

and have the proper skills and vision for the company to operate properly because they have a

larger consumer rate that they have to provide to, and their production rates is a lot higher than

the other companies that do not operate on a global level. The one thing that is the most

important for a globally ran company to be successful and have a competitive advantage over the

other large corporations is being able to have a strong global team and presence because of the

way that the team is formed, trained, and led by the global leader which is why communication is

something that a leader needs, especially a global leader because they are consulting and

conversing with a variety of people from diverse backgrounds and cultures. Understanding how

to speak with people within the organization as well as though outside the organization that

utilize this company and their resources, so providing effective communication to the employees

that will be working in this organization and providing the customers with the services they need,

then a company may be able to be successful in their place in the global corporation world.

According to an article by Dan Bullock and Raul Sanchez, a way to communicate with

and on a global team, one must adapt to the term Global English which is described as, “a style

of written and spoken English that’s been optimized for clearer and accurate communication on

global teams” (Bullock & Sanchez, 2021). This form of language is useful for global business

directors because it allows for them to effectively discuss and talk with their employees and

other potential companies for partnerships by leaving out jargon and idioms, it is more to be

clear and provide clarity to those that are being spoken to and who are being led. It allows for the
employees to understand and see why it is important to communicate in a way that works best

for the entire organization. Understanding how important communication is and that without it, a

company, especially a global one cannot be run nor led properly and successfully if the leader or

the individual the leadership role is lacking that essential skill.

Case Study 1 Responses:

There are many different ways that training within an organization can be effective in the

development of the global team of employees to build upon the communication of a global team,

the most effective way this could be done is creating a training that would help build

relationships and allow for interactions between employees in the global business unit to work

with one another on tasks related to the job while also offering a way to improve their

communication. An example of training like this that would be effective in improving

communication and lowering barriers is anti-bias and diversity training, because in a global

organization there is a large diverse group of employees that work there.

This means that not only is the language barrier a reason behind the communication

barriers between the global business units, but the differences in culture and biases, so having an

effective training method like this to help improve the communication between the people in this

unit and lower the barrier that is present due to the lack of proper training that could have helped

with this issue and been avoided earlier. There are other ways that organizational training can be

utilized to improve and build communication, another way that training can be helpful is that it

allows for the employees to understand their place in the organization and how their input

matters, so they will be more likely to want to communicate and be open to communicating with

others and breaking the barriers there from lack of acknowledgement and willingness to discuss

and share their ideas with others.

Case Study 2 Responses:

Communication and synergy are important to maintain the structure of the organization

as well as the balance of open communication and increase productivity amongst employees

would be to combine these two into a training course that allows for an employee to exemplify

and understand the importance of these two so that they can work effectively and without

borders and barriers of the organization. Communication deals with the way individuals speak

and interact with one another as well as the behavior that individuals may display depending on

the situation they are in, in this case. Communicating in the workplace has a different effect on

the way employees communicate so that allows for synergy to come into play and helps with

interaction and cooperation of the individuals in the organizations.

This also helps with effective communication so that the employees and employers in

both organizations or in this instance, department can interact with each other and communicate

effectively with the use of cooperation according to the company’s rule. By incorporating these

two together in a training or help giving an idea for what to do with the organizational training to

help improve the development of the company and the employees working so that they can

receive the proper amount of feedback on how they can communicate effectively. Organizational

training helps in building communication among global teams by allowing structuring and

formatting the training in a way that allows for the global teams to build trust with one another

and listen to each other which helps increase and improve their communication skills.

Case Study 3 Responses:

In this case, professional development would be helpful and beneficial to improving and

building communication skills within a global environment because it helps the team to use their
professional experience that they have from working in their current position as well as previous

positions and the work experience that they have to help them understand and comprehend the

way they use their communication skills to speak with others in a business and professional

setting. This allows for the employees in all 7 countries to effectively communicate and discuss

important matters that require strong communication skills because of the diverse and broad

range of employees in the company from different ethnic and cultural backgrounds so having

professional development incorporated and applied to strengthen the communication in a global

aspect.

By focusing on and developing a method that works well for all 50,000 employees in the

7 countries, it allows for a way that communication can be created to flow between the teams and

in the organization among the different office locations in the 7 countries so that the company is

less likely to suffer from low productivity, prioritization and goals of the company and the goals

they have and want for their employees. Professional development creates a way for clarity and

clear communication to be displayed because it allows for the employees to build a better and

stronger flow of communication and create more room for ideas and positive, yet useful

discussions to take place between the teams and help the employees and employers to be more

likely to incorporate team bonding amongst everyone on an annual or more common basis that

allows for the communication between all of the employees to continue to be strong and

maintain their position.

Conclusion:

These three ways are the most beneficial and useful in helping the company to see why

and how they can effectively and efficiently improve the skills needed to help lower and reduce

the risk factors that come from a lack of proper communication and barriers created by the
structure and placement of the organization as well as the employees. The use of organizational

training and/or professional development is good for the organization and the global team due to

the fact that it promotes more active listening, clarity and elaborative communication that can be

useful in helping them communicate stronger and more effectively in way that helps them to

understand one another. Communication improves and boosts the morality of employees, creates

more engagement and productivity within the company so that the team can perform better in

their global organization and in a global aspect that works better to build on collaborative and

innovative ideas that produce more higher productivity levels and stronger workflow to help

create a better advantage and workplace for all employees.

There are many beneficial and useful factors that come from these three ways of

incorporating and utilizing organizational training and professional development to build on and

be applied to communication among global teams. The pros of using training and professional

development are it increases job satisfaction and loyalty, it also builds a culture of teamwork or

trust, and it improves public relations which is useful towards the consumers that are

communicated with as well as the other employees on the global team and those not on the

global team because it organizes and alters the essential factor of communication (Vogel, 2021).

The cons of using training and professional development are it can create more of a struggle on

both sides if they feel forced or unwilling to do so because they feel as though the other

employees are unwilling to communicate properly as well as the possibility that without this

continuous training and development occurring often enough for the global team see a difference

in the way everyone in the organization communicates then it may be a waste of time and no

point which makes it ineffective.
