Objective
Replace the CARLINGSWITCH linkage switch with an
APEM linkage switch.

tractor with all accessories re-
0.5 hrs moved.

1. Take the linkage switch out of its housing.

2. Remove the linkage switch from the connector.

3. Using service tool 3580817M1, take out the con-
nector pins one by one and place them in the new
connector (2).

The connections for the old and new con-


nector are different. See below.

4. Different wire locations for the old and new con-


nector (2):
- white wire: switch signal
pin 2 becomes pin 5
- white wire: quick soil engagement return signal
pin 3 becomes pin 8
- red wire: power supply
pin 7 becomes pin 6
- black wire: earth
pin 17 becomes pin 4
- white wire: quick soil engagement supply signal
pin 18 becomes pin 7
Fix the connector number onto the new connec-
tor (2).

Also see the diagram at the end of these fitting Fig. 5


instructions.

5. To ensure that the wire fits properly in the new


connector, remove the retainer tab if necessary.

6. When fitting in older tractors (MF6200/MF8200,


MT500/MT600, RT/DT), the installation procedure
described above may not be suitable.
If this is the case, please refer to the installation
instructions below.

7. Tractors before L347042 not fitted with toggle


switch 4270970M1 (see Service Bulletin
TRAC 08/03):
- white wire: switch signal
pin 2 becomes pin 5
- black wire: quick soil engagement return signal
pin 3 becomes pin 8
- yellow wire: power supply
pin 4 becomes pin 6
- green wire: earth
pin 6 becomes pin 4
- black wire: quick soil engagement supply signal
pin 10 becomes pin 7

8. Tractors after L347042 or before L347042 fitted


with toggle switch 4270970M1 (see Service Bul-
letin TRAC 08/03):
- white wire: switch signal
pin 2 becomes pin 5
- black wire: quick soil engagement return signal
pin 3 becomes pin 8
- yellow wire: power supply
pin 7 becomes pin 6
- green wire: earth
pin 17 becomes pin 4
- black wire: quick soil engagement supply signal
pin 18 becomes pin 7

9. Fit the new switch (1) onto the new connector (2).
Fit it in its housing.
Check the linkage for correct operation (lifting,
lowering, quick soil engagement), and also check
the differential disengagement.
