STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

Japan caught my interest when I taught its literary contributions to my 8 th grade students.

As an English Junior High School Teacher for eight years, I was exposed to teach English

Language and Literature of different countries including East Asian where Japan is located. This

opportunity grows my knowledge and arouse my interest to learn more on Japanese literature

and culture. Eventually it leads me to love the country and appreciate their literary. Also, together

with my students we enjoyed studying Japanese literature, reading their stories and learn the

origin why Japan was called as “The Land of the Rising Sun”. Now, my desire to go to Japan

grows as my knowledge about the country’s arise.

My vision to go to Japan will not only make my dream come true but it will also help me

grant my goals in life. One of these goals is to expose myself on different types of educational

system from different country. I always love to learn new things especially about teaching. Going

to Japan will expose me from new environment and teachers with different nationalities. While

acquiring new information and skills along the process, I do believe that my co-teacher will also

gain the same knowledge as I have. For me, sharing of different perspectives, teaching styles

and strategies in classroom setting with different nationality may build a new teaching techniques

and approaches addressing the needs of the students’ despite of diversities. In addition, I was

also able to teach in Senior High School and taught various subjects as well as
