Teaching Date and Second(Polynomials and Polynomial
Quarter
Time January 18, 2024 / 7:30 – 9:30 Equation/Function)
Objectives must be met over the week and connected to the curriculum standards. To meet the objectives, necessary
procedures must be followed and if needed, additional lessons, exercises and remedial activities may be done for developing
I. OBJECTIVES content knowledge and competencies. These are assessed using Formative Assessment Strategies. Valuing objectives support
the learning of content and competencies and enable children to find significance and joy in learning the lessons. Weekly
objectives shall be derived from the curriculum guides.
A. Content Standards Demonstrate Key Concepts and Understanding Polynomial Equation and Polynomial Function
B. Performance Standards is able to conduct systematically a mathematical investigation involving polynomial functions in
different fields.

Learning Competency:
1. illustrates polynomial functions. M10AL-IIa-1

C. Learning Competencies/ Learning Objectives:

Objectives a. Define Polynomial Function;
b. Illustrate polynomial function; and
c. Find the x and y intercept of a given polynomial function

II. CONTENT POLYNOMIALS AND POLYNOMIAL EQUATION/FUNCTION

III.LEARNING RESOURCES
A. References
1. Teacher’s Guide pages
2.Learner’s Materials pages K to 12 E- Mathematics Book (pp.___- ____)

B. Other Learning Resources Laptop, TV, Projector, Flash cards, Marker

These steps should be done across the week. Spread out the activities appropriately so that pupils/students will learn
well. Always be guided by demonstration of learning by the pupils/ students which you can infer from formative
assessment activities. Sustain learning systematically by providing pupils/students with multiple ways to learn new
IV.PROCEDURES things, practice the learning, question their learning processes, and draw conclusions about what they learned in
relation to their life experiences and previous knowledge. Indicate the time allotment for each step.

Activating Prior Knowledge (5 minutes)

Preliminaries: Prayer, Greetings, Checking the students attendance

Setting classroom rules on what to do while doing the activity.

*Discuss the classroom rules.

A. Review previous lesson or REVIEW:

presenting the new lesson
(2 minutes) Give what is asked!

Using spin the wheel to select learners to answer the questions given.
1. degree
2. Constant term
3. leading coefficient
4. Number of real roots

instances of the new lesson WATCH ME:
(10 minutes) Let the students watch videos on the illustration of polynomial function using quadratic and
linear function as review of the basic function definition and illustration
Defining Polynomial Functions, Finding the x intercept and y intercept
Polynomial FUNCTION
Polynomial function- refers to the relationship
of an input and output
Polynomial Function may be denoted by P(x) and f(x). Sometimes a polynomial function is
represented by a set of P of ordered pairs
(x , y).
Thus a polynomial function can be written in different ways, like the following:

D. Discussing new concepts

and practicing new skills #1
(10 minutes)
Polynomials may also be written in factored form, that is, a factor that can no longer be
factored using coefficient that are real numbers. Example:

1. y = x 4 +2 x 3−x 2+ 14 x−56∈factored form

y=¿ ( x 2+ 7)(x-2)(x+4)

2. y = x 4 +2 x 3−13 x❑ −10 x∈ factored form

y=¿ x( x❑−5)(x+1)(x+2)

3. F(x) = x 3 + x 2+18∈ factored form

y=¿ ( x 2−2 x+ 6)(x+3)

Let them watch a video about finding the x intercept and y intercept of a polynomial function

The learners are task by group to sketch the graph of linear and quadratic function on the
cartesian coordinate plane. The given will start from linear function to quadratic function as start
up for polynomial function.
E. Discussing new concepts Given 1: f(x) = x + 2
and practicing new skills #2 Given 2: f(x) = -x+3
Given 3 : f(x) = x 2+ 4 x +2
Given 4:f(x) = x 2−2 x+1

to formative assessment 3)
(3 minutes)

1. f(x) = (x-5)(x-6)(x-1)(x+1)

2. f(x) = (x-7)(x+4)( x−5 ¿ ¿2

3. f(x) = x (x−5)5

4. f(x) = x 2−5 x+ 6
5.

( 2 minutes) polynomial function.

I. Evaluating Learning
( 10 minutes)

After this long day, create your own problem in relation to polynomials and try to solve it. You
can use the above examples as your guide.
