By the end of this Module, you will be able to:
1. associate learning resources (LRs) with specific learning modalities
2. access resources from online portals such as DepEd Commons and LR Portal of the
Department of Education
3. explain the importance of using quality assured LRs

MODULE CONTENT:
Lesson 1. Learning Resource Maps for Distance Learning

Lesson 3. Assessing the LR Materials

LESSON 1: LEARNING RESOURCE MAPS FOR

DISTANCE LEARNING

Activity 1

LEARNING RESOURCES
MODULE 3B LDM2 FOR TEACHERS
The DepEd Memorandum on Suggested Strategies in Implementing LDMs for SY 2020-2021
included the Learning Resources (LR) Map as a guide in selecting the appropriate Distance
LDM to be implemented in Schools/Divisions. Study this map and answer the following
questions in your Study Notebook:
1. Based on the map, what resources should you have in order to implement the LDM
adopted by your School/Division?
Since Printed Modular Distance Learning is the adopted learning delivery modality
in our school as per the results in our LESF. Therefore, printed self-learning modules
(SLMs) and learning activity sheets (LASs) are the resources that we are going to utilize.

2. Do you have the complete resources for the Distance LDM needed in class? If the
LRs are not complete or not available, what steps will you take to make these
available? What are your options to substitute these missing LRs?
The status of SLMs and LASs for Quarter 2 is still being uploaded in our Division
Repository of LRs. Our school leaders stimulated us to develop enrichment activity sheets
that is localized, well-leveled with the learners’ capabilities and aligned and with the
MELCs. Teachers are also directed to utilize the use of LR Portals like LRMDS and
DepEd Commons to find useful and effective LRs to supplement the SLMs and LASs.
Textbooks and existing compiled learning activities are also provided to students.

3. What support will you need to maximize the use of the two DepEd-sanctioned LR
Portals? From whom can you get this support?
Keep connected through signing in to different DepEd LR Portal so that I can
download LRMs that are essential in implementing MDL. And the assistance of ICT
coordinator who are knowledgeable and have expertise in navigating the sites portals will
support us to have an easy access to maximize the use of this two DepEd LR Portals.

4. Based on your evaluation of the materials, are they appropriate to the level and
characteristics of learners? Are there learners who might be disadvantaged by the
materials (based on reading ability, level of learning independence, level of household
support, distance)? What adjustments will you make in terms of the LRs?
Yes, these materials are appropriate because these were developed by the
Department of Education which is the primary learning resource materials to be utilized in
different grade levels in the context of the new normal. These SLMs and LASs are K to 12
compliant, based from the MELCs and passed the ADM LRs Standards. On the other hand,
SLMs and LASs to be downloaded for the remaining quarters are still incomplete.
In terms of adjustment, I should adapt resource materials from the LRs that is
appropriate to the learning level of my students. Those who are not meeting expectations or
learning targets shall be given with remediation while those who may accomplish the tasks
as contained in the LRs shall be given enrichment activities.

Activity 2

LEARNING RESOURCES
MODULE 3B LDM2 FOR TEACHERS
In your LAC Session, share and discuss your answers from the previous activity. What
support can you provide to your colleagues and what support can you get from them in terms
of LRs? Take note of the insights that you can gather from your colleagues and write them in
your Study Notebook.
After the discussions and exchanging of ideas, we came up with the different ideas
regarding the LR. We also shared our insights on how we can support each other in terms
of LRs which are as follows:
 As computer literate it is my pleasure to guide and assist co-teachers in
downloading SLMs/LASs using the DepEd LR Portals specially those who
do not have accounts yet.
 Make available technical assistance in reviewing and assessing of all the
downloaded modules to ensure the completeness and suitability to learners.
 Identify and address the underprivileged learners by simplifying the
activities in the SLMs.
 Ask feedbacks/comments in addressing possible issues that may arise in
terms of content validity of the SLMs.
 Localize, contextualize, simplify and integrate learning objectives which are
relevant to students’ background.

LESSON 2: ACCESSING LEARNING

RESOURCES FROM DepEd PORTALS

Activity 1
Establish access to the following portals:
1. LRMDS Portal. Ensure that you have an LRMDS Portal Account. If you have not
registered yet, follow the LR Portal User Guide to guide you in your registration
process. Alternatively, seek assistance from any of your colleagues or your IT

personnel in your school, district, or division. You may also coordinate with your
LAC Leader and/or Coach. To understand the portal better, you may watch the LR
Portal Video Tutorial located in the resources of this Course.
2. DepEd Commons. Ensure that you have access to DepEd Commons. Refer to
Memorandum on DepEd Commons dated March 17, 2020.
Explore the Portals. In your Study Notebook, answer the following questions:
1. Given the LDM adopted in your School, how can the two DepEd portals respond to
your LR needs and those of your learners’? How do they complement the LRs that
you already have?
These two DepEd Portals are very convenient to the needs of our school and
learners because these portals provide LRMs that we need in this school year. SLMs,
activity sheets, and interactive platforms are very important to address the needs of
teachers and students since our school adapted Modular Distance Learning. We can also
guarantee the authenticity of these portals since these were developed by the Department of
Education.

2. What are the challenges in accessing the LRs in the portals both for you and your
learners? How will you overcome these challenges?
These are the challenges in accessing the LRs in the portals:
a. Unstable and slow internet connection is the main concern that hinders the students
and teachers from accessing the LRs in the DepEd Portals;
b. Based from the LESF many of our learners do not have gadgets like smartphones,
laptops, and tablets to access the DepEd Commons;
c. Not all teachers and students have internet connection to access the online digital
platforms;

3. What support will you need to be able to maximize the use of the LR Portals? From
whom can you get this support?
Since the main challenge is the internet connection to maximize the utilization of
the LR portals, teachers need fast and stable internet connection for us to be capacitated on
how to access and use these portals with the assistance of ICT coordinators and colleagues.
The possibility of this solution will be based from the whole hearted support of external
stakeholders and community leaders. Teachers can also launch information drive and
simulation to students on how to access and use these portals.

Activity 2
In your next LAC Session, share and discuss your answers to the questions in Activity 1.
Explore how you can help and support each other in using the LR portals. Jot down the
insights and helpful information regarding the use of the LR portals in your Study Notebook.
During our group’s LAC session, some of the members shared that they have

already accounts in these portals and it is beneficial on both teachers and students since
many LRs from here can supplement learning of the students. Some of us also suggested
that there should be orientations on how to access these portals not only for teachers but
also students. On the other hands, most us of in our group had already these sites to our
respective students/classes.

LESSON 3: ASSESSING THE LR MATERIALS

Activity 1
Study the LR Rapid Assessment Tool. Download an LR from either DepEd Commons or
LRMDS Portal and assess the material using the tool.

4. How does this exercise help in picking the right and appropriate LRs for your lesson
and your learners?
Before selecting the most appropriate learning materials you have to consider first
all the criteria enumerated in the tool. Hence, understanding the management of this LR
Portals make teachers confident that the chosen materials are reliable and standard-based.

Activity 2
Explore other non-DepEd LR portals/platforms you can find online. Take note of the portals
in your Study Notebook. Download at least one LR from each portal. Assess the materials
using the same tool and answer the following questions in your Study Notebook:

copyright and plagiarism issues?

7. the layout and format easy to read

and pleasing to the eyes?

1. Based on the Assessment Tool, how does the material from a non-DepEd Portal
compare with the LR from the DepEd Portal?

LEARNING RESOURCES
MODULE 3B LDM2 FOR TEACHERS
DepEd prescribed LRs are credible and aligned in the basic requirements because
they are contextualized, K to 12 compliant, and MELC-based while non-DepEd LRs
sometimes deviate from standards, not quality assured, and only provide marginal support
to attain the learning targets for the students.
2. Based on the results of the Assessment Tool, what improvements do the materials —
both from DepEd and Non-DepEd portals — still need?
Both learning materials from DepEd and Non-DepEd portals should undergo
rigorous quality assurance to check content and face validity before disseminating or
uploading it to the said portals.

3. How does this exercise help you in picking the right and appropriate LRs for your
lesson and your learners?
The activity edifies me about the criteria to be taken into consideration in
downloading and selecting the appropriate learning materials suited to identified local
educational needs and standards either from DepEd or non-DepEd portals.

Activity 3
Choose one of the LR materials that you have developed. Assess this material using the same
tool. Answer the following questions in Your Study Notebook:

5. culture- and gender-fair? ✔

6. free from red flags on possible

copyright and plagiarism issues?

7. the layout and format easy to read

and pleasing to the eyes?

1. How does your material compare with the ones that are obtained from the online
portals?
Since some of the provided Learning Activity Sheets (LASs)for Quarter 1 in Math
9 contains activities that are not suitable in the level of readiness of m grade 9 learners, I
developed an simplified enrichment activity sheets to supplement the available learning
materials. When I saw the assessment tool, I realized that there are standards I did not
meet. However, this material had undergone school-based quality assurance of our schools’
quality assurance team.

2. What improvements do you still need to make in your developed material?

I will redesign the Activity Sheets to suit specific learner’s needs. It should also be
contextualized. Activities must also be simplified for easier understanding.

Activity 4
Share and discuss your answers to the questions in Activities 1, 2, and 3 in your next LAC
Session. Jot down insights and information that can be useful to you in choosing the
appropriate LRs.
After our group’s discussion, we came up with general insights:
 The utilization of DepEd LR Portals in our school essentially support and allow us
to used quality assured LRs that will absolutely benefit us as a teacher.
 Accessibility of the DepEd LR Portals should be inclusive even to learners who do
not have gadgets and internet connection.
 Validity and appropriateness of the learning materials to be provided to the learners
should be ensured.

Submit your LR assessments with your reflection on the exercises to your LAC Leader.
Ensure that you keep a copy for yourself.
