Note:
- The number of required credits for PhD (ES/MIS) program is 14 credits plus the societal program (4 credits).
- The coursework requirements for the PhD (ES/MIS) students are as follows:
(i) 4 credits Research methodology (Mandatory, coursework will be provided on 2nd Semester for Jan’2024 batch),
(ii) 2 credits: UGC mandated Research and publication ethics course (Mandatory, coursework will be provided on 2nd
Semester for Jan’2024 batch),
(iii) 2 credits Interdisciplinary topics (Mandatory, coursework will be provided on 2nd Semester for Jan’2024 batch),
(iv) 6 credits Advanced Topics (Two courses may be selected from 1/2/3/4/5/6/7/8/9/10/11/12/13/14 in this
semester).
- Faculty members may utilize respective contact hours for conducting tutorials, quiz, students mentoring, course project,
assignment etc.
- Classes would be held on web-based online teaching at lecture/seminar room of Academic Complex as applicable.
- The weightage for Mid-sem or End-sem examination would be maximum 40%.
- Attendance of the students/scholars at any case should not be less than 80%.
- Any discrepancy may please be communicated to the undersigned.
- The schedule for Mid & End-sem examinations will be informed later.
- Faculty members are requested to keep class attendance records of the students/scholars.

Engineering Sciences (after BE/BTech) would be 70 credits:
b. 'Research Methodology' (RM) of minimum 4 credits + ‘Research and Publication ethics’ (RPE) of 2 credits as
mandatory
c. 'Societal Program' of 4 credits as mandatory
d. 'Research Credits' of minimum 28 credits (Mini Project: 4 credits, Project: 24 credits) (replacing PhD Research

NOTE:
Modification of credit requirements for a PhD student enrolled in Integrated Dual Degree Program (IDDP), under
Engineering Sciences (after BE/BTech) would be 70 credits:
a. Coursework requirement of minimum 32 credits shall include:
i. Inter-disciplinary Learning' of 4 credits at least are to be taken
ii. 'Advanced topics' of 4 credits at least are to be taken
iii. Majority of the remaining 24 credits [i.e. 32 (minus) 4 (as in (a)(i) above (minus) 4 (as in (a)(ii)
above] can be completed by registering for Engineering Science courses
b. 'Research Methodology' (RM) of minimum 4 credits + ‘Research and Publication ethics’ (RPE) of 2 credits as
mandatory
c. 'Societal Program' of 4 credits as mandatory
d. 'Research Credits' of minimum 28 credits (Mini Project: 4 credits, Project: 24 credits) (replacing PhD Research

Coursework of M.Tech (DME) Program at CSIR-CMERI under AcSIR
In the M.Tech program, the following is the break-up of the minimum total credit requirement of 60 credits (for reference):
a. Coursework: 32 credits
b. Mini-Project: 4 credits
c. Dissertation: 24 credits
