Jindal Panther™ Fe550 Rebars are manufactured using stringent

quality standards under the

TMT Manufacturing Process

Jindal Panther™ TMT Rebars are manufactured using

stringent quality standards under the
Water Quenching and Self Tempering

1. Technology perfected by Siemens of USA,

at Jindal Steel and Power Limited’s
Rebar Mill in Patratu near Ranchi, Jharkhand.

2. Technology perfected by SMS MEER,

at Jindal Steel and Power Limited’s
Rebar Mill in ANGUL, ODISSA
Quenched and Self Tempered Process

Q Quenching
The hot rolled bar leaving the final mill stand is rapidly quenched by a special
water spray system utilizing split nossels. This hardens the surface of the bar to a
depth optimised for each section through formation of martensitic ring while
the core remains hot and austenitic.

S Self Tempering
When the bar leaves the quenching box, the core remains hot compared to the
surface allowing heat to flow from to the surface causing tempering the outer
martensitic layer into a structure called Tempered Martensite. The core still
remains austenitic at the stage.

T Atmospheric Cooling
This takes place on the cooling bed where austenitic core transformed into
ductile ferrite pearlite structure. Thus the final structure consists of an optimum
combination of strong outer layer (tempered martensite) with ductile core
(ferrite pearlite). This gives Jindal Panther™ TMT Rebars its unique combination
of higher strength and ductility.

Few practical advantages of using higher strength rebar
• Fewer Bars Needed
• Higher Spacing and Less Congestion
• Lower Bar Diameter Needed
• Lesser Bars to Placed and Tied, therefore less labour time needed
Multipurpose Deformed Bar for Reinforced Concrete member with High Strength & High Ductility

Fe415 Fe 550D
Advantages of using Fe 550D High Strength TMT
Rebars
• Seismic Design –Earthquake resistant
• Aesthetically pleasing designs.
• Economically viable by usage of less steel .
• Light structures hence, easy demolishing.
• Percentage saving of 5% -8% (Fe 550D) when the structure designed on
one grade.
• High weldability.
• No compromise with ductility due to increased strength.
• Higher the strength lesser the steel & lesser the congestion in rebar cages.
• Smaller quantity at similar unit price, lesser will be the construction cost.
• Finally, Fe550D means STRENGTH, STABILITY, STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY.
High Strength Reinforcement
• REDUCES CONGESTION
– Reduces BAR Diameter
– Increases Bar Spacing
– Fewer Bars Needed

• FASTER CONSTRUCTION
– Placing/ Tying Bars (Labor)
– Less Weight (Cranes)
– Improves constructability in Shear walls, Columns, and
mat foundations

• CONCRETE PLACEMENT EASE
