ABRSM Consent Form 2022
Online theory exams are to be conducted on student’s computer. Computer must have webcam. Student’s
computer will have to run a system check to make sure it is up to date and able to run testing software. Student
must have photo ID to prove identity. Exam must be taken in quiet room with no musical notes showing and
keyboard covered. Blank scratch paper may be used. A room scan will be requested prior to exam start to show
room, desk, blank scratch paper, and student’s ID. Student will have 28 days from date of registration to
complete exam. Test cannot be taken on smartphone, tablet, or chromebook.
If you have previously taken online exam, you will use the email you registered with ABRSM and the exam will
show on dashboard once registered. If it’s your first time taking an online exam, you will be provided with a
Contact ID. You will then register an account on ABRSM.org in order to download the software and take the
exam.
Exam fees are paid to ABRSM. NFSM will bill your NFSM account for exam fees and transfer to ABRSM on your
behalf. Exam fees are non-refundable. A student may qualify for a credit voucher of exam fee valid for 12
months if they provide a medically documented excuse and only after approval from ABRSM.
It generally takes 3-6 months to prepare for an exam. It is the student’s responsibility to procure the necessary
materials to prepare for the exam. We recommend waiting until the student has at least gotten through half way
of their ABRSM material before looking at registering for an exam and only to register if your teacher confirms
the student will be ready by exam date.
