What will happen to sugar inside the tin can when
heated?
Materials: Sugar, Tin can, Alcohol Lamp, Activity Worksheet
Procedures:
1. Prepare two tablespoons of sugar.
2. Place it in a tin can.
3. Heat the sugar under the flame using the alcohol lamp.
Caution: Be very careful when heating the sugar. The teacher may assist on this part. Do not taste it.
4. Observe what happens.
5. Pull out the spoon when the sugar has completely melted.
6. Record your observations on the chart below.

What will happen to the paper when burned?

Materials: Alcohol Lamp, Piece of paper, Tin can, Activity Worksheet


Procedures:
1. Slightly crumple the piece of paper.
2. Burn one end of the paper by putting it under the flame. Observe while it burns.
3. Then, let the paper burn completely.
4. Observe what happens after burning the paper.
5. Record your observations on the chart below
